Not UNT related but Lamar fired Pat Knight. I believe he won only 3 games this year.

JJ tried for several years to get tech as a home game and Knight is the one coach who finally agreed. That game is probably my most memorable moment as a fan inside the Super Pit. For that I'll always be a fan of PK

I will always remember the Tech game when we beat them. I was with fellow pit crew members yelling "Hey Pat, Pat my crotch". He gave us go to hell looks.

I was there too..... Big Guy on the Front Row with the Big Green Afro. I waited outside the pit for 5 hours that day to make sure i got the first seat.....Pat my crotch was a great great chant. One of MANY coaches i pissed off during my 4 years. Mike Jarvis and the Mike Mike chant was great, and i always loved John Brady for his feet stomping abilities. I will say Pat Knight hated us that day and regretted coming to the pit..

Even if he is a proven coach, perhaps they don't want to be buried under a longer contract that they'd have to pay out if it doesn't work out.

I really wonder Lamar had to do to make Knight Jr. go away rather than suffer through him staying around.

Yup, and he led McNeese to a 21-9 season and only their second trip to the NCAA in school history two years later. That and the fact the LEGENDARY Johnny Jones thought enough to hire him 5 years later says the scandal is no longer a concern and was put "to bed" long ago.
