Did North Texas recruit Sam Rice ?

I remember his name. As I recall, he committed to NT and backed out and chose Southern Meth. Now, I read that he has left Southern Meth. Does anyone know if that is correct and if so, where has he gone to now ?

I know that we did offer him but he chose SMU likely because that's where his dad played.

There is an offensive lineman named Rice on the workout charts and my gut feeling tells me it's Sam. If it is then I believe that we have us a starter after he sits out this coming season. He's near the top of the charts so I like Rice's attitude, whether it's Sam or another Rice.

OK, according to the official SMU football site, Sam Rice started at least five games this last season......

If the Rice on our off season work out sheets is Sam Rice, then that's a pretty quick disconnect from the SMU program.

If so this is a solid pick up. He started 6 games last season at SMU, and also played his true freshman year. He didn't reshirt there meaning he can redshirt this year and be a RS JR in 2015. Having a kid we recruited out of high school, who's also from the area, and has solid experience will help when we lose Lemon, Y'Barbo, & Johnson after this year. If this is indeed Sam Rice he will most definitely be vying for a starting spot in 2015.

They couldn't really stop him from doing so. Blocking a kid from SMU to UNT would be bad PR for JJ, even if we are on the schedule for the future

I asked if it was Sam Rice earlier when his name first appeared on the workout sheets and people shot me down (UNT90). For good reason. Why haven't we heard that we got a D1 starting guard , from SMU no less, to transfer here?
