Now that this is well on its way to another blow out, I think I'll spare my sanity and turn it off. How many times do we have to be embarrassed before the athletic department realizes that this is never going to work with this coach?

When we fire Benford does Andrew leave as well?

If everyone on here would just show up to games and support the team maybe things would be different. The players respect the coach and vice versa. You cannot just pick one to want to get rid of. Sup

It's not the 100% determining factor on if a team wins or loses. Benford is doing nothing different then any other coach and the players respect him. I know this for a fact and I would bet if you ask

Just curious, but when would you suggest Benford isn't getting it done? Would it be 5 years of this, 10 years? 15?

If this season does not work out and people think he needs to go I am fine with that. The team does not need people during the season riding the coach. An attack on the coach is an attack on the team. So it's also an attack o the players. He will not be here 10 years. He will either loses it within three years or find success and be taken away much quicker then Johhny because he is more highly regarded around the league. Most likely the first option will happen. My point is people need to just support them and when the season ends make the tough decisions.

This is even more laughable. When did I ever say the players suck? In fact it is the exact opposite when they come on here and read the posts. I will send you the rest in a private message but you are very wrong.

They work together to overcome diversity and they do not need people riding their cases.

Yeah!! That damn diversity. Always gets in the way. Finally we agree on something. Diversity sucks and must be overcome!

play defense without fouling... just play defense without fouling. we literally have committed nearly 3x the fouls latech has...

This is a frustrated team. I think they see the season falling apart and perhaps very few wins between now and the end of the season.

Well it's weird that in every spot...ever...the best coaches have the best teams. Is that just a coincidence? Yeah, diversity is hard to overcome. Still blaming the 2014 white man I'm sure.

So according to you we are as "good as anyone" in the first halves, but the second halves kill us and that is NOT coaching?

      Opps! Jim Hobdy created the UNT Battle Flag in 1986 and WAS NOT involved with Rick Spear's design of the flying worm which was adopted by Hayden Fry and used during his tenure.My bad. It is a shame that we didn't stick with it and it certainly separated us from any other eagle mascot. However if you google history of Mean Green knickname you will find the credit for its universal usage by UNT attributed to Rick Villareal, not Hayden Fry.

      I don't think Hayden did this. Perhaps you could provide some reference as I can't recall the term "mean green " applying to our team as a whole until the 2000's. Yes the eagle is our mascot and mean green is the nickname of our team. Also I believe Jim Hobney [sic] was also involved in the creation of the flying worm bet can't exactly remember how. Maybe you know.

      I agree with most all you say, but I don't think Coach has his team here yet. Everything is not yet fixed (ie defense). If he can elevate the Defensive play (ie new DC and bigger, better players) to match the Offense, then we will have something! Sorry, we are still a work in progress!

      This is a big game for Elf

      We have lost 4 of the last 5 against this program, 5-7 overall. UTSA has been playing FBS football since 2012. Since 2013, we have been in a conference with them. Through last season, they are 72-65. They've won 2 conference titles and have gone 1-4 in bowl games, while also being ranked. They've had three coaches. In the same category above, we are 63-71. No conference championships and have gone 1-6 in bowl games. We have had 4 head coaches. If we lose to them tonight, Morris will basically tell us that he just isn't going to be able to lift this program higher than it was when he took it over. UTSA in 2024 is not good. They're 4-5, with wins over Kennesaw State, Houston Christian, FAU, and (somehow) Memphis. Not counting having to sacrifice themselves to UT-Daddy, they've lost 4 games against peer programs, Texas State, ECU, Rice, and Tulsa. Maybe I'm wrong, but we should beat these guys, even on the road at a place that has been a house of horrors for us, if we have the right coach leading us. This is one of those games that will tell us in our hearts if we have someone worth a damn as the head coach or if he's no different than everyone else we always hire here.
