I agree with the "don't throw stones" line of thinking.

I trust that the academic improvements we've been trumpeting (specifically with the football program) are legitimate, but to be as distant as I am from the athletic dept and yet choose to assume NT is immune from these concerns seems naive.

Hopefully, allegations elsewhere prompt our school to self assess things to make sure we are (1) in compliance, and (2) continue to support the student athletes' educations - not simply their eligibility.

Man, I just can't believe their reaction. Do they not know that Larry Brown has cheated everywhere he has been?

Can you elaborate on that a little? I don't know much about Larry Brown beyond his room with the Sixers a while ago. A quick glance at wiki, I only see UCLA nearly 35 years ago as his collegiate experience.

So how has he cheated in the past? All I know of him is that he seems to be a scorched earth type. Stick around for two years and move on.

UCLA or Kansas?

There were concerns that Frazier would not be eligible this past summer. He had some work to do to become eligible. Shipp has been after Frazier and Kimball for over a year. The issue before was his residence (living in Irving) while attending Kimball. He is a snake and tries to ambush folks on tape.

Most "investigative reporters" are snakes.

This is progress, no current SMU player is being investigated for killing hookers!

Well, the hookers are the only ones smart enough to know how to change the grades, so killing them at this point in time would be detrimental.

Whoops. Didn't see the Kansas stint. Question remains unchanged. What did he do to cheat?

I'm in no way defending. I honestly don't know.

I don't remember specifics, but both UCLA and Kansas were put on probation right after he left. The Bruins had a Final Four vacated.

My problem with him is that his reports are rating based as he only goes after the top recruit or top team.

Must be basketball specific minded then cause he's yet to call attention to Aledo's nationally recruited football teams they have put on the field the past several years?

Why not drop an anonymous letter off outside the station with the clues laid out so he can connect the dots? You'll be Serpico!

Just watched the 1st episode -- it sounds like Frazier was failing and his grades were changed by Kimble high school. An SMU assistant was in contact with Kimble high school and called them on the day it was changed. So the issue is was SMU involved in pressuring them to change the grades? Also, SMU has known about this for a couple of months yet Larry Brown said today that he knew nothing about it. There is a second part on tomorrow nite.

The assistant coach going to Kimble in person to ask about a grade that was a matter of record and that he should already been aware of is fishy to me. If I'm misreading this let me know.

Make that Kimball and let's not forget that it was only year or so ago when one could walk into an SMU basketball game for free. That is what I call a turn around.

He didn't go in person, called over the phone

HOW ABOUT Brock?

Yeah, we'll the thing about Brock is its next door, and most of their move ins already lived in Parker County.(that I know of) and its a tiny school. If they are branching out to recruit kids they aren't branching out very far, and the numbers are extremely low.

Aledo on the other hand have a lot kids moving in, some from coast to coast, who are already developed, top rated talent. It's rediculous what they have gotten away with.
