UNT made the switch on its coaching staff official today, announcing that Mike Nelson has ridden off into the sunset and retirement on his motorcycle and will be replaced by Kevin Patrick, a former South Florida assistant coach.

We have talked about both moves extensively, but have yet to delve into the departure of one of the more interesting figures in recent UNT history in terms of assistant coaches.

I think that in time we'll be better off if Patrick stays here as long as Nelson. I believe that if Kevin Patrick doesn't have the players that he'll go get them. He's a much better recruiter and will get the best available. I couldn't be more pleased with this hire. Let us hope that the day of the 260 lb DT is past. i'm exicited about the direction of our defense.

Did your meds wear off mid post?

Apparently so. I believe that I had to jump and run (not exactly the right terminology for an old man) before I had the opportunity to review. I have edited the original post and took out all that shouting. Sorry about that.
