Yeah good to see not much has changed since I was at SHSU, sad really they had good basketball under Marlin and then 2 straight National Title Games in Football, but they did not build on it. They only get up for the battle of the piney woods against SFA that is now wow down in Houston. Bobby Williams has one of the easier AD jobs in America right now.

I have a good friend who attends SHSU and is very dedicated to them, runs a website. Tells me stories that consistently blow my mind.

SHSU has a very good criminal justice program in fact one of the best in the country from what I understand.

It is! I know a lot of people who went there for that program specifically. Also great political science obviously.

Makes sense since it's located in Huntsville!

Yes they can do internships at the state correctional facility etc. My son is real interested in Criminal Justice as a career and so I knew about it from that.

I met a couple once who had a daughter who went to SHSU. They told me that they were always careful to tell people that they were visiting her "at Sam Houston State", and not "in Huntsville". :thumbsu:

Great news for us, but know he will leave one day eventually. No one should be bitter when he does, he's taken ownership of his job and more than earned the chance to be a H.C. somewhere. Wherever he goes, I'll have a new team to cheer for...(well, unless it's in CUSA....Or SMU...or A&M.)

Awesome! Glad to see that continuity!

Can't wait to see what he does with Dajon.

I certainly am excited to see how Chico develops Dajon. The continuity referenced above gives him the stability to not have to spend the off-season learning a new system and acclimating to a new voice in practice/meetings. Our most recent two Heisman winners are examples of how valuable the off-season between freshman and sophomore year are in player development.

Did I just project Dajon for the 2014 Heisman?

SHSU is a fun little school. Went there for a year. Loved it. Loved UNT more.

Yes a fun school for sure, interesting times with Death Row being 1/4 mi off campus, execution time brings the crazies out.

Also now understand why previous coach went GA Southern, forgot they are moving to FBS so more than lateral move.

This. Please.

Folks...it is true "hell freezes over"....I agree with Emmitt here 100%.

I was going to say..."in fact pigs do fly", but thought that might be interpreted the wrong way! LOL!

With Dan McCarney we finally went back to the well (or the same formula) that gave us our last coach to leave North Texas above .500 and that coach who DMac emulates to this day; even has that coach's portrait on his office wall over-looking Apogee Stadium.

I also continue to know why we've been where we've been most of the last 30 or so years and all you have to do is read posts from some on this forum to understand the mind-set that gave us nothing significant on a national or Top 25 basis during most of us older UNT alum's lives. Collectively, we never asked for better than we were ever getting for starters on that subject. Among bureaucrats if you don't ask for better, you can damn sure be rest assured that you won't get it but rather..............business as usual. :(

This: Why are some trying to retire Coach Mac so quickly? He loves his job and with his synergy and motivation we all need to hope that he wants to do this at least another 7 or so years in Mean Green Country.
