The BOR and Administration are doing what they are paid to do--focus on increasing enrollment, focus on music and arts as the primary window to the university, and never make winning at revenue sports a priority. Its why we have 2% of the alumni who give to the program. And Denton doesn't even care about the team at all--very minuscule interest
I'm sure RV didn't care about the verbal demands of fans either, until they flew a banner calling for his job.
And comparing our situation to every other sub .500 team is disingenuous. Just in the AAC... FAU, Charlotte & Tulsa have already fired their 2nd year coaches. If they can afford to fire their coaches, but we can't then Mosley isn't qualified to be our AD. Under Mosley and Morris this football program is still a sh!t show. Name the other FBS teams that started their season 5-1 and have now lost 5 straight games? I'll wait.
Our baseball stadium would probably seat 1000 max and draw about 100 fans . We also don't, in my opinion, need a new basketball venue when we only draw 4,000. SMU dropped baseball decades ago because it is a money pit. If a school that has the money won't waste it on a baseball program why should UNT who doesn't have the money do it. Check the number of college that lost millions of dollars. Last I looked T.T. was in the hole a few years ago to the tune of about $6 million and they had a good season that year. [ I have slept since then and may be off a million or two but they did lose money.]
With all the uncertainty regarding college athletics now is not the time to abandon ship. Who knows what the sport will look like in 5-10 years. UNT has more resources at its disposal than the vast majority of G5 programs. No way is now the time the throw in the towel.
