UAB hires the the Coach of Jacksonville State. I think that is about as well as they could have done. His lone season at Jacksonville state sure had good results (11-4. and the playoff quarterfinals) and maybe he can inspire hope in Birmingham. I tend to think that is the saver option than a coordinator thats never been HC. Then again, he left Jacksonville state after one season. That does not exactly inspire confidence that UAB won't be looking for a new coach very soon. Either he gets canned or he just sees the program as a stepping stone.

The program is in a tough situation with an outdated stadium and shunned by Bear Bryant Jr. who runs the Alabama B.O.R.,either officially or unofficially. He killed a new on campus stadium a few years ago, and prevented UAB from hiring an up and coming coach whose name escapes me. As long as he is alive,UAB is dead.
