I thought I'd let those of you that come out to the Collin County football watching parties know that Fairview Down Under has closed its doors for good. Therefore, I'll be looking for a new place to host this year. I'm open to suggestions. Here are the preferences:

1. Located in Collin County

2. Large area for viewing games

3. No cost or commitment to reserve the area

4. High speed free wireless internet (for streamed games)

5. Prefer table service

6. Prefer some ties to UNT

7. Carry sports packages, including package with Fox College Sports

8. Willing to broadcast game over restaurant audio system

9. Serve alcohol

10. Capability to patch in a laptop for streamed games

Some places I'm considering:

- Sauced Texas Kitchen

- Buffalo Wild Wings

- The Allen Wickers Sports Pub & Grill

Let me know your thoughts...

How about the Rudy's on the tollway ?

Looking at going back to Rudy's is a good idea. The one in Allen changed management and then told me that they'd have to start charging me to hold the room. I've done a basketball watching party before at the location you suggested. I'm assuming that's a reference to the Frisco location.

Buffalo Wild Wings in Frisco would probably do it. There is a lot of competition around there.

bww didn't even show their own bowl with sound at their restaurants due to the mixed martial arts thingy going on...

go elsewhere...good luck...i have no idea of places in your area...

I'm also leery of Buffalo Wild Wings. I talked to them in July about possibly hosting an event there and am still waiting to hear back. Maybe their proximity to UNT might help you out, but if they're anything like the one out here, it's a waste of effort.

Wow, already? Why did they close?

I think location was their biggest problem. It couldn't be seen from the main road and the shopping center limits the signage. That place seemed to do pretty well in the evenings when they had live music, but it was usually relatively dead for lunch and dinner.

The place was a bit of a long shot in the first place. The owners took it over as part of a deal with the previous owners who owed the latest owners money.

I've got to add, the menu and prices didn't help any.
