I do love how classy our guys are. The only time they scrapped was with that cheap shot on Chancellor. They're such great kids, proud to have them representing us. They are a family, appreciative, fiery, determined and classy. No quit. That's how football should be.

There were a stupid amount of penalties and poor officiating only accounts for some of it.

More to your point, UNLV #72 was trying to pick a fight with Abbe as time expired. Abbe's only response was to point to the scoreboard.

The best news about the 38,380 attendance number is because I believe it was a "butts in seats" count. Definitely didn't appear that # was made up by the SMU attendance counter. From my perspective in Section 7 (UNLV side), that number was spot on. Most of our group guessed it was going to be in the 35,000 - 38,000 range.

Ok, I saw that, but didn't realize it was Abbe (yeah, it's hard to miss Abbe, but I did somehow). That's interesting, because it seems like Abbe used to have a reputation as someone with kind of a short fuse. In my opinion, he has really matured, especially since he came back from his offseason problems, playing on his own nickel. Seems like he's played a lot smarter than in other years.

Naw, he's still got that short, nearly continuously-lit fuse. Only now he channels it better in spent energy against the man across from him in play and in wildly eccentric, nay theatric gesticulations.

Looks like he's about to go all Samauri Linebacker on someone.

The UNT fan attendance was a major win today - no question. Definitely be invited back especially with a more recognized football opponent. This program has great momentum and even greater potential.

Not sure what NT will claim as its part of the attendance...30,000?...35,000?...36,000? But regardless, don't be surprised next year or when our next bowl eligible team occurs, that RV's phone starts to ring a lot. In fact, with those potential numbers I wouldn't be surprised if the Armed Forces Bowl came calling. I know I predicted that the TCU faction would never allow it. But if the chips were to fall just right no bowl committee will ignore those potential numbers.

Beat Texas next year and finish with another 7-9 wins and "Will Call" will have to be held at the Motor Speedway.

UNLV sold less than 300 tickets, and there was virtually no walk-up demand from any local UNLV football fans. http://m.lvsun.com/news/2013/dec/31/bowl-bites-unlv-ad-focuses-value-bowl-experience-o/

A UNLV fan had explained that many of their alumni work jobs that support the tourism and gaming industries and that New Years is a hard time to leave Vegas.

Other than those several hundred UNLV fans it was all North Texas for the remaining 38,000.

I'd actually love to Play Penn State, in a bowl game or the regular season. We got to sit with thier fans when they were at the HOD Bowl against Houston and they were really cool.

This bowl game, our record-breaking North Texas fan's support and (of course)............... Coach McCarney along with his dynamic Mean Green football team's win is the absolute apex of my 40 years of following this program.

I was in the emergency room at Weatherford Regional the previous 24 plus hours with a diabetic issue of way too low blood sugar,a bit a deyhydration, etc, but I wasn't going to miss this North Texas extravaganza if they would have had to wheel me in the (now) even more historic Cotton Bowl Stadium. Like all of you..........I couldn't be prouder of our Coach DMac plus his team, the mighty Mean Green and then.............us!

GMG!

PS: Yesterdays North Texas amazing fan support would have needed a 35,000 plus seat Apogee Stadium to hold our crowd. That's all I'm going to say about that and just use the rest of these 24 hours post bowl win to celebrate! :)

If we beat Texas we're winning 10-12 regular season games next year.

I think we have an outside shot at UT, but I think the team will not be as good. Lot of graduation and leadership will be gone.

This is no shot at our current team...but talent wise, I think the best are the kids on the bench. But there is no way they'll have that determination and desire that is from being around during Dodgeball. They knew what it was like to suck, and made sure they didn't suck this year.

Could someone please tell me what SOW is? I am finding all kinds if definitions for this on the net ?

Son Of Worm. As in the diving eagle logo on our helmets yesterday is the son of the flying worm logo from the season opener. (Yes I know those logos have more history but some may have only this season as a reference)

Didn't the original term come about because it kind of resembles it in style?

It makes for an interesting story line.

He did toss the coin ya know but the truth is that it would have been us vs MTSU but they did a swap with the Armed Forces bowl so we wouldn't have to play a conference opponent in the bowl game. MWC had the MTSU spot in the TCU bowl so the MWC rep came to the HOD because they couldn't pull Navy out of the Armed Forces Bowl.

I think a lot of people were quite surprised at our attendance at this game. Remember. few fans travelled from Utah and I doubt if many live in DFW as large AQ school's alumni do. The pleasant surprise was the sea of green on our side of the Cotton Bowl. Huge day for the Mean Green.
