One of the electricians I work with said his sister-in-law works for the company that makes the helmet wraps. Said we've signed a contract with them to do more in the future and to expect plenty more different helmets.
Strangely one of the owners/major investors of the company is SMU's defensive coordinator.

Helmet wraps might the wave of the future if studies proves that changing helmets throughout the year can lead to increased chances of a head injury (concussion).

Really wish they would sell mini versions of alternative helmets. Flying Worm against Idaho, SOW Rice game, and yesterday. If they sold mini versions of the HOD helmet DURING the game, those woukd have sold out in an hour max.

Helmet wraps are fine and far less expensive. We are not ever going to be a Penn State, Alabama, etc. meaning we can't lure recruits or a growing fan base with the same uni for years. Let's be an Oregon and get crazy with it!!

The only permanent solution for textures and patterns is Hydro Graphics, and on a number of their helmets the team logo is a decal. Until/unless we have the funds, Wednesday's carbon fiber wrap on a black shell looked great.

I liked that idea of the fade. Saracuse's looked good. A green fading into a different shade of green would look great too.

That should have been our throwback helmet, covering all our various shades of green.

Looks like whatever they did to wrap them it was at least three pieces. Two big parts for the left and right hemispheres and then a strip down the middle. Look at the back of the helmet near the #7 and you can see how the strip doesn't follow the curve of the helmet all the way.

So they are decals but not stickers, okay. That helmet is okay but doesn't have the texture of the real helmet, which was a big part of the allure. And it appears to have been made (unofficially) by a Sooner. So...no money back to UNT. Is there anything better? I don't see anything else but I'll keep my eyes open as well.
