And they took 8 of 12 points in that last stretch...just like I strongly endorsed. It's Miller time, baby!

Good win against a bad team. Odd officiating though. Rousell charged the net with the puck, but crashed into the Hurricanes goalie hard. A Carolina player charged him and started throwing punches. Rousell got a 5 for charging and a game misconduct, while the Carolina player only got 2.

Nice win last night,

This Weekend the Stars are having the Mike Modano's number 9 retirement ceremony in a game against Minnesota , only the 4th number retired in franchise history. Saturday should be a fun day at the AAC.

Saturday will be an epic day for sure and have my tickets ready.

Word is many teams interested in Robi and it could take a 3rd or 2nd round pick to land him. Will be interesting next day or so and see if Nill pulls of any deals.

I would like to see Goose and/or Gonchar in some equation, today is the deadline? If they get the defense shored up all there will be to do is watch them grow. I think we build our own talent after getting something solid at D. Jim Nill's specialty is supposed to be developing talent from the farms. I so feel this is the very tiniest tip of the iceberg, on what is going to be a Hockey Dynasty again.

I have tickets, surprise tickets not sure where, for Saturday. I am taking Harry and some other buddies we have four seats, I kind of expect exceptional seating considering how they were set-up, we shall see. We were told to be there by 5:30 at the latest and I believe events start at 4:30 this Saturday.

Yes there's a green carpet event where a bunch of former players will be walking on. The ceremony starts at 6 on the dot and supposedly there is a major surprise to begin it which is why everyone is saying to be in the seats by 545ish. I don't think it will happen but I really hope almost everybody does arrive and are in their seats when the ceremony begins. It will be really wheels off if there are large patches of empty seats.

Really don't see Goose going anywhere. He plays a ton and has played much better as of late. Any hopes for a Gonchar trade is beyond wishful thinking. He's played better since the beginning of the season and plus he'll play out the full length of his 2 year deal here because of Val. Realistically I think the guys that could be dealt by tomorrow are Robi and Fiddler but we've seen how much of an asset he is on this team even though he's not likely be be back next season. And with Robi I'd love to see him finish his career as a Star but know that may not be likely.

Wow great to hear/read, a little sad I was hoping to see Robi back for a while. I still think we need a super solid defensive vet for two years or so to get the young defensive guys some leadership in making good decisions and help set our defensive tone on the ice.

They had Mike Modano on Q102 errrr I mean 92.5 this morning talking about the game Saturday. I am pumped! Also I felt like he was hinting at a last minute deal today with the trade deadline. Could be I was still sleepy and he was trying to me mysterious to keep interest up. I guess we will see.

You guys lucky enough to go Saturday enjoy it. The one game I've wanted to go to the most since the '99 Cup run was shot to hell when I started having financial trouble before losing my job.

Guess I'll have to settle for watching on TV.

The TB and Columbus games are really going to sting once the schedule picks up again. The next 10 games are all key and anything less than 14 of 20 points probably leaves you in a hole with a five game roadtrip and still 3 more against STL and CHI.

Thoughts on the trade for Tim Thomas? Great deal, all we gave up was Dan Ellis. Off of the top of my head, I'd say we have one of, if not the top 1-2 goalie combination heading to the playoffs. Especially considering how Jekel and Hyde our defense can be.

Its a good deal I think and now the Stars can feel better about resting Kari with a guy like Thomas, we may see Thomas play 5-6 games in the remaining 20-19 games. I think they are planing on a run on the playoffs. I hope so.

Stars are raping Vancouver at the moment 4-0.

I'm not a good hockey fan... But there was a sports tear shed tonight.

As a 4th or 5th grader the first thing I ever knew about hockey was Mike Modano.

No shame in that. Modano came here with the rest of the North Stars not sure if this hockey in Texas thing would work. They needed a guy like Modano. A once in a lifetime player who is modest, approachable, and appreciative. He was never comfortable in the spotlight, but be knew it was his role. He knew that be had to be the go to guy for the new hockey fan, if this was going to work. I became a hockey fan the season before the Stars moved. I remember the early days vividly. I've watched hockey grow into what it is now. Modano has been easily one of the top 5 people that sold an entire region, not just state, on the sport. And I wouldn't say he wasn't the most important person in that task. Great win tonight. They were outplayed at times but fought and got the win in regulation. They now are in the 7th spot by 2 points ahead of Phoenix. The Thomas trade is now huge. Kari got run in the third and has a concussion. The number retirement ceremony tonight was classy. It was a nice touch to have different NHL players paying tribute in recorded messages during the game, and even had local sports legends as well. It was also classy for Troy, Roger, Dirk, and Rolando to show up. And a major shout out and thanks to Green Mean for the extra ticket.
