Very nice. Thanks for posting this. Really happy for these guys. They worked hard and have earned this experience. Here's hoping it is the first of many such experiences for this team and program.

Well, we now know for sure what helmet the Mean Green is going to be wearing for the game.

Do we?

Or do we know for sure the helmet they put on display at the welcome reception?

Yeah, putting the wrong helmet up there would really mess with our opponent's head.

Either that, or the person responsible for getting the right helmet there is the same person that was in charge of the tic...........oh never mind...... B)

Indeed it was and evidently does not age.

WOW! Apparently, he doesn't! To myself, He was always the 'voice of Reason' for Metroplex Local Sports in the mid-late '80s. Straight-to-the-Point, and no BS.

Or perhaps they wish it to be a game day surprise?

Probably the package of free stuff the players get.

That was my guess. They should just call it that. It's kinda like at work when people say they "have a line of sight to...", instead of just saying "I think we'll end up around...". I'm not a fan of bs corporate catch phrases. Stepping off box now.

Gift suite is the correct term because it is designed to allow the players to choose a specific item from a suite of potential options. All options have to be deemed gifts due to the NCAA regulations and this options allows the players to mix and match selections to a expected maximum threshold value (I do believe it the $450 per student but may be higher) instead of giving every student the same package. This keeps them from already receiving something they either already have or they do not have any interest in. This is important due to the rules about student athletes and selling their own personal items and the potential NCAA violations that it can lead to. This is why you are seeing many bowls heading to the "Gift suite" option.

Research the meaning of the term before blowing up.. It definitely does not mean what you think it does and is all tied to the gifting requirements of the NCAA.

Directed at me? I didn't blow up anything. I thought I made it clear that I didn't know what it meant when I said "What is meant by gift suite"? I appreciate your explanation of what it means. That's exactly what I was looking for. Don't know why you added the last part.

Many posts in this GMG.com thing in its entirety would benefit from some pre-research. Not just the "gift suite" concept.
