If you are tight on cash you can purchase tickets for $25 through HOD website. Go to section 18 once you are at the website and use promocode HODSCOUTS.

Also making the drive early morning. I'm leaving from Houston around 5:45am with my G/F and buddy. Probably put some whiskey in my coffee half way there.

First the instructions. You'll be coming in on I-35. As you approach downtown Dallas, keep right and exit onto I-30. After about a mile there will be an exit to Fair Park. I believe that the exit is either Second Avenue or Exposition but there should also be a sign that says Fair Park. It's only about three blocks off of the interstate.

I'd just wait until I got to the Cotton Bowl before purchasing tickets. Go to Gate E (see map below). There will be parking available but most of the close-in parking may be gone. If so drive around Fair Park on Second Avenue and approach the lots from the south (rear) side of the fair grounds. The street is Fitzhugh. Parking is $20.

If you need to eat beforehand and get there early enough, check out the topic on here about the events - for 15 bucks you can get a pretty decent brunch at the UNT pregame at the Embracasomething building in Fair Park.

A 5:30 departure from Austin will get you there in good shape.

Waco is about an hour and 45 minutes from Dallas. If you leave Austin at 5:30AM you should have plenty of time.

If you leave Austin at 5:30am you will be cutting it close, but should have enough time. The Cotton Bowl is on the southeast side of Dallas. You will probably have to get on I-30 E once you hit Dallas. You will only be on I-30 E for about a mile though so stay in the right lane. You can see the Cotton Bowl from the hwy and there are ample road signs to guide you. Austin is about 4 1/2 hours away pending traffic. You should be fine. Go Mean Green!

This is awesome. Make sure to bring green, more green, and some extra green. I am going to Denton tomorrow to find my wife and I NT Jackets. I got a really cool Green Never Fades Adiddas long sleeve dry fit for christmas that will be my 1st layer but I want a few additional layers and a rain layer just in case. No fret, it will be Green, every last layer.

Where are you going for your coat? I need to do the same for my wife and I. All I have is t-shirts/polos and all my wife has are those overpriced green sun dresses. A nice green coat would be great.

Sam's Club in Denton has some nice softshell jackets that are warm. I have one and it's one of my favorites.

I am going to call Monday to see if the store under Apogee is open, and if they aren't open then I'll try Voertman's or any other store in Denton that I can get the appropriate attire. I will post when I find something good.

A word of caution. I have friends who make the Austin trip occasionally and I did once a few months ago. Beware of construction delays and detours! My trip took an hour longer than normal, both ways. As an abundance of caution, I would launch a half-hour earlier than you indicated and drive like hell when you have clear sailing. A 10:30 arrival in the Fair Park area means you won't get to your seats until after kickoff and you will miss all the pregame ceremonies. Just my advice for what it is worth.

I was thinking the same thing. 5 1/2 hours to leave Austin, stop in Waco, get to Dallas, find a parking space, walk to the entrance, buy tickets, go inside, find your seats...that's going to be really tough. If at all possible it would be better to go to the UNT party on NYEve and stay the night in or near Dallas somewhere near a train stop. But otherwise I'd say schedule an extra hour (which sounds WAY too early) if you want to avoid missing pregame and possibly a good chunk of the 1st quarter.

Just made the trip from San Antonio. Left at 10 a.m. Arrived in Cedar Hill at 2 p.m. That was with a stop for Gas.
