DENTON, Texas - Due to the continuing demand for tickets to the Heart Of Dallas Bowl, as well as the demand for free transit passes for train service to Fair Park, the North Texas Athletic Ticket Office at Apogee Stadium will open on Saturday, Dec. 28, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The ticket office was already scheduled to be open additional holiday hours in the lead-up to the New Year's Day game between North Texas and UNLV at the Cotton Bowl. Kickoff on Jan. 1 is 11 a.m.

The North Texas football team heads to Dallas on Saturday to begin its final preparations for its first New Year's Day bowl game since 1948.

Tickets for the game, which cost $75, will continue to be available at the North Texas Ticket Office, both in person and online, until Dec. 31. The ticket office will be open Friday, Dec. 27; Saturday, Dec. 28; and Monday, Dec. 30, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Tuesday, Dec. 31, the ticket office will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The ticket office is also distributing free transit passes for train service between Denton and Fair Park for the New Year's Day Heart of Dallas Bowl. The passes are also available at Denton County Transportation Authority's Downtown Denton Transit Center located at 604 E. Hickory (passes are NOT available from DART). The service uses DCTA's A-train and DART's Green Line.

There is a strict limit of one ticket per person, so each rider must pick up their transit pass in person. Click here for more information on the train service.

Tickets must be selling well for the game. Mean Green Nation turning out! Great.

Maybe those attendance predictions will be smashed as turnout beats expectations. Hope so. Probably can't count on much help from the UNLV folks...this one is on the Mean Green Nation! And, the Mean Green Nation will make it happen!

Beat UNLV.

Due to the fact we failed to inform everyone that your tickets will be at will call (even though we said we'd mail them to you), we will be open for you to come pick them up.

That is true. I asked my ticket rep if they'll be mailed and he confirmed it'd be delivered via FedEx when I purchased them. But now I have to pick it up at will call.

That might be part of it but I also think people are calling to find out where their tickets are. Once they discover that they are still at the ticket office people are wanting to pick them up (like myself) rather than deal with Will Call before the game. That is likely the other driver to having the ticket office open on Saturday.

Since we have a Women's BB game on Sunday afternoon they could also allow people to pick up tickets there during the game even if they don't actually attend the game. Just specify which gate & what specific time frame and I bet people will come.

This is the reason our group decided to go through HOD website. Tickets already in hand...and 50 yard line.

Imagine if most people wait to pick them up the day of the game...you'll either have a ton of people showing up late or having to skip the pregame fun just to get tickets. It's already an early game, then even earlier to get to pregame...doubtful they expect you to pick them up BEFORE going to pregame if you get them that day. What are you supposed to do, pick up tickets between 5-7 am, then head over to the tailgate, then back to the game before 11am kickoff

Ticket office staff, including RV, is busy with will call, getting tickets ready for FedEx, giving out transit passes, AND selling a lot of tickets. One guy walked up to buy eight tickets while I was there this morning.

The following is on the MeanGreenSports web site, directly linked in an e-mail that I received only a few hours ago.

Is this correct? Were the tickets mailed by the 20th?

Completely incorrect. I ordered mine way previous to the 18th and were going to be sitting in Will call without my knowledge if I had not call and specifically asked the ticket office.

The policy appears to be "just tell them about it if they call and specifically ask about it."

Somebody dropped the ball big time. I was also under the impression they would be mailed to me, but instead I have to pick them up. I even gave the guy over the phone my new address to mail it to.

UNLV or UNT side?

Gotta be UNLV. I checked the HOD ticketmaster and there are quite a few seats sold on the UNLV side...I just hope the greenies realize it and come over to our side.
