SMU extends June Jones' Contract through 2017

The problem with June is that he has ZERO personality and a program like SMU who needs connection with the general public needs a salesperson coach. You are going to get wins but not random fans with Jones. I was in Hawaii when he was there and he had the same stone face but actually connected a bit more with the community, not much more but more. He is a bad energy profile for that program. Oh well.

We are Texas Tech to SMU's Texas A&M.

We are Texas A&M to SMU's Texas.

The fascination some have with a dying private school program that doesn't care about UNT and that hasn't had a championship season since they paid for it 30 years ago just reeks of insecurity.

Can we set our sites just a bit higher. Hell, even UH would be an improvement. It really is that sad.

Again we play them for 12 years on our schedule - open the season at home next year. So yes it's absolutely ok for us to talk about the closest D/I football school to us. In the same city most of our alums live in.

Talk is fine. You know, like we would talk about Rice, or La. Tech, or UTEP.

But the obsession on here by some (looking at you, Emmitt) with a has been program is close to comical. Especially when said program could give a rat's ass about UNT.

And a 12 year continuous series with them is far too long running. Sign a 4 year deal and see where we and they are at when it expires. No need to limit scheduling flexibility (of which we have little) by committing to 12 years.

We may just wake up in 4 years and realize that playing SMU every year is actually a burden to this program.

Don't read it. It's pretty simple. In the meantime I'll continue to post about whatever I damn we'll please.
