Casinos could help UNLV with HOD Tix allotment

"Regarding Sundays article on the UNLV football team (Expenses for bowl wipe out windfall), its about time the gaming gurus stepped up and picked up the extra tickets to keep UNLV in the black for a bowl appearance. Surely the major casino owners could put their heads together and buy the extra tickets, and send them to the military bases in Texas to hand out to the troops.

Not only can they write it off, but it would be a great public relations move and a financial fix for UNLV football."

Ummmm I worked for MGM Cosmopolitan and Tropicana for 6 years. Prying money out of a casino even for a great cause is tough. Now throw in some publicity, scantily clad cocktail servers, daytime pool advertising, the Mavs Dancers and Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders and now you might just get some interest:)

Agree. The day a casino does anything financially that is not directly in its own interest is the day that the Dallas Morning News fawns over UNT football and ignores the existence of SMU.
