Fantastic signing. I would not totally believed he turned down 7/140 from the Yankees. I imagine if the Yankees offered the money is close to what Texas offered him but I don't think he turned that down. It looks like it was a rumor floated by Boras to drive his price up. Looks like nobody bit because 7/130 sounds about right and it's very good money.

Consistant productivity rather than riding Cruz's hot/cold rollercoaster...you'll be doing plenty of that with Fielder. It's a smart deal for the Rangers.

I wouldn't dismiss Cruz coming back. He's still a very valuable RH in this lineup that can still fill in defensively and be somewhat adequate. I'd like to see Cruz signing here and have Choice stay in the minors. Everything I have read indicates he isn't quite ready yet.

My only concern is the years attached to it as he's already 31

As long as you get 5 good and productive years from that contract I think you're fine. Plus when you have the ability to get on base and take walks, that can go a long way in prolonging a career a few more years. The window for Texas to win is wide wide open right now. I thought signing Choo was a must no matter the circumstances.

Choice is what, 24 years old? If he ain't ready now, chances are he will never be. I know, I know. Chris Davis, Nelson Cruz, etc. But those are the exception, not the rule.

Time for him to practice that uppercut, learn to quit walkin, start tryin to get picked off on the base paths!! Gotta assimilate to Washball!!!

I actually like Wash as a regular season manager, but is there any way we can suspend him once the playoffs start?

Everything I've read is that he'd be ready now if he was playing everyday in the bigs. Because he'd be the 4th or 5th OF'er here this season, it's best to have him in the minors another season to further season his game. Rios is a FA after this year so Choice could end being his replacement as many think he can be an every day corner outfielder. I love Beltre as our 4th OF'er. He's decent at plate discipline, good defense, speed etc. Really one of the reasons I didn't even think twice whenever Gentry got traded because I think Beltre will fill that role well and be effective. A lot of people forget that he was a much higher touted prospect a few years ago. He was a baby when he came here in the Boston trade which I think was the Gagne for Murphy and Beltre trade but I could be wrong.
