Someone sent in a question this morning about UNT football building on their success this year and if we could ever break into relevance in the Dallas market. Basically said McCarney is the right guy for the job and said some things that most of us already know about us being in an uphill battle with the Dallas market because of all the pro sports and even college teams in the area. Thought it was good they are at least talking about us though. No mention about how being in the Heart of Dallas bowl could help us, though.

I'm sure he has money on the game.

Very cool! That was my tweet, but I didn't have a chance to listen in. Thanks for posting.

At least Norm doesn't hide behind a Crimson and Cream Cape like another Metroplex Sports Radio Personality....err, North Texas Alum does!

The person you are referring to at least shows up to North Texas football games, unlike myriads of other alumni who 'hide behind a Crimson & Cream Cape", or a Burnt Orange Cape, or a Maroon & White cape, etc...

Tell me, how many North Texas games has he been to since he graduated? How many prior to this year?

And, since he is classified as 'Media', one would think it wouldn't cost him anything to get into Fouts or Apogee...

What does it matter? He's coming to games, right?

Might be best to stop harping on the Junior tree and instead look at the greater alumni forest. We have bigger problems than an OU t-shirt fan who happens to come to Apogee here and there.

By the way, I've still yet to hear Junior say anything blatantly negative about his Alma Mater... just indifference. And that, unfortunately, is better than most.

Whats the number of alumni in the metroplex? Dont they quote like a 100,000? Yet we can't get 24,000 in the stands - most students - and you're going to single out one guy? I feel bad for you.

"I don't like that Green Texas flag THEY fly, when did that get started?"

"I just think it's a spare program when you have to solely rely on one player that played 30 years ago and name your team after him to get any recognition..."

Should I go on?

He's not thinking anything different than what a lot of other alums and people have not thought about before.

And again if you want to single out the Junes go ahead but if we should be singling out everybody in that case.

Does it matter? We need to make friends and not more enemies. Bitching about someone who is apathetic towards NT won't solve any problems when you ignore the other hundreds of thousands of people that couldn't give a damn about our university.

Well, the main difference that you seem to be ignoring is that not EVERY North Texas alum has a daily radio forum in which to convey your occasional disdain and/or indifference to your alma mater.

Again me personally I've never heard him blatantly belittle NT. If anything he's always talked positively about his times at NT as a student and the times when he comes back to attend some games etc he speaks good things. Again this is much ado about nothing IMO. Majority if not all the NT alums actually give us a lot more love and props than a lot of us want to realize.

Those quotes above came out of his mouth on the radio when I was last listening, which was around 1994-95, and I have refuse to listen ever since. And they were said at a very critical time when North Texas was doing it's damndest to finance a required stadium seating capacity increase in order to make the push to get out of 1-AA Hell. Next to the latest stadium student fee proposal to build Apogee, this was possibly the most important time for NT alumni to come together for a common bond, yet all that prick that so many seem inclined on stroking around here could say was a bunch of sarcastic, misinformed shit about his own school.

Didn't he speak positively about his experience at a game this season? I didn't hear everything, but he seemed to have had a really good time and spoke well of the stadium and team.

He spoke more about the positive experience of getting together with old college buddies and old college stories than anything about the football program.

But at least he was here and got to see UNT treat UTEP in the same manner that OU treated UTEP a couple of years ago.
