I believe they have been playing games there since 1937. Sammy Baugh, Davey O'Brien, Babe Parilli, Bart Starr, Roger Staubach, Joe Theismann, Dan Marino, Doug Flutie, Troy Aikman and Eli Manning all played in Cotton Bowl stadium. I am sure there are many other greats not mentioned here.

As a UNT player or coach, it will be extremely exciting to set foot on the same ground as many of the games greatest players of all time.

If you think of other greats to play in the Cotton Bowl feel free to post them here.

Don't forget about all the great Rock Bands that performed during the Texxas Jams from '78-'88. Boston, Van Halen, Aerosmith, Ted Nugent, Rush, Eagles, Foreigner, Sammy Hagar and many more......

Good heavens, Harry, how could you leave out the greatest of them all? Doak Walker should be first on your list. The Cotton Bowl is ,after all, "The house that Doak built".

The New York Yankees, (Exhibition, of course), as well as Mickey Rooney, Elvis Presley, Billy Graham..., I could go on and on.

Preceded by the greatest Longhorn quarterback ever to don the burnt orange.

Also remember that the Cotton Bowl was the first home of the Dallas Cowboys until Texas Stadium was built. Even though they weren't very good they played against some Hall of Famers. I still enjoyed the quarterbacking of Dandy Don Meredith.

Wasn't there a line about some of his passes being so far they broke car windshields in the parking lot. Actually, HE'S the one who used the line.

Don Trull and Lawernce Elkins, Jack Spikes

When I was in high school, weren't to a game there during Rural Youth Day at the State Fair. Either Prairie View or Texas Southern was playing. On a first down play, the defense was called offside making it first and five. The next play the defense was called offside again. The ref stepped off five more yards. He then called for the chains, and as a result the offense was given first and inches.

Among others, pretty much every SWC star from the 30's through the 70's (plus 80 or so years of TX/OU and The State Fair Classic), along with most all of the NFL (and many AFL) stars from the 60's into the 70's. That's a pretty long list.

1956, a 21-year-old Elvis Presley attracted 27,000 fans to the stadium, at that time the largest crowd to attend an outdoor concert in Texas.
