UNT hosted four junior college players over the weekend, including two who could soon decide on a college destination.

Akii Smith, a linebacker from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M; Josh Greer, a quarterback who played at UAB and Navarro; Herbert Harris, a linebacker from Hinds (Miss.) Community College and Brandon Thorpe, a defensive end from Highland (Kan.) Community College were all on campus for official visits.

Of that quartet, Smith and Greer appear to be the closest to making a decision after visiting UNT.

A Greer commitment would probably mean someone is leaving or changing positions, wouldn't you think ?

Could there be something going on behind the scenes? Absolutely. I don't know that the three QB's we have are going to have a ton of options but sure things can happen.

Greer has jumped up big on the radar in the last couple of weeks. The timing of what he is trying to do makes him more of a possibility for us. By virtue of playing so well at Navarro he offers more proven ability than Berglund, McNulty and DaJon... at the most critical position in the program. I think they look at this kid and say he can be a really good player for us.

If the situation of one of them leaving doesn't happen then I bet they'd all have a chance to compete in the spring. Then the odd man/men out would be presented with the idea of a position change.
