I think your going to hear every name possible:

NFL-Harbaugh brothers, Tomlin, Sean Payton, Pete Carroll, Jon Gruden

College-Urban Meyer, Gus Malzan, Jimbo Fisher, Jim Mora Jr, Les Miles, David Shaw, Art Briles, Pat Fitzgerald, James Franklin, Charlie Strong

I've heard everyone of those names so far.

Makes our game against them the debut of the new coach.

So now with Saban out who do they hire? Gus Mahlzan?

The reason why I think Gus is out of the question is because he's playing for a National Championship. During his last stop in Auburn, Tennessee was trying to hire him as the HC. Malzan declined a multi-million dollar a year contact, because he was in the middle of preparing for a National Championship.... I think he does it again

All this coach drama makes me have a good feeling about our season opener. I really hope we win the bowl game so we carry some momentum through the spring and summer and I hope they make a bad hire and their kids don't catch on until after they play us.

I said no question lol

Really though, they almost won without McCoy with a freshman qb that later couldn't cut it at UT. Ergo, with McCoy they would have won.

Awesome. Now, if we lose the HOD Bowl by 16, I can say "well, we almost won".

Once again, Alabama took their foot off the gas. That's why they came back. Say he didn't get injured, which is a pretty big assumption considering his history, Bama keeps playing aggressivley, thus they score more and and still win.

You can't make an assumption and ignore other factors.

It's going to be Arizona State University Coach Todd Graham. It's time for him to abandon another program.

That's funny, I feel that people are forgetting what happened as it was happening. Texas dominated the first quarter with McCoy, then he got hurt. Alabama rolled after that, but a freshman qb got them within a TD late in the 4th, then he couldn't convert on 4th down so Alabama scored with less then a minute on a short drive

If that's " taking the foot off the gas" then that's bad coaching

Is there really ever any nice way to fire somebody when their time is obviously up and they've all but worn out their welcome? You ever had to fire somebody in your profession? It's not the easiest thing to do--many times a most unpleasant experience for all concerned.

Sure, give such an employee a chance to resign to save face but the results are still the same.

GMG!

Article from a UT grad:

"Money may buy a lot of jerseys, hats and better season tickets, but it does not buy the services of the best coach in the country.

Texas should be proud of the pristine football stadium and LHN deal, but until accountability becomes more important than accounting, the Longhorns football team will be an also-ran in the conference and state."

This is the story of Michigan and Notre Dame as well. It must be difficult for old timers to believe Notre Dame hasn't won a national title since 1988. And, Michigan has only has one since since 1948...and that one, in 1997, was split with Nebraska.

As much as it would pain some to believe, the Longhorns will never be "an also-ran in their conference and state". EVER.

Not really. Saban doesn't pour it on the way other coaches do. You won't find Alabama dropping 60-70 points on an opponents just because they can. Folks like Bob Stoops...they enjoy it...ask 2003 Texas A&M (77-0), 2007 North Texas (79-10), or several Mack Brown coached Texas teams. As memory serves, Stoops dropped 60+ on Mack .

The truth is, Texas was in for a butt kicking no matter who played QB that night because they couldn't stop the run. So, unless Colt was going to play DT, MLB, or SS, Texas was going to get run out of the stadium.
