Surprised to see no updates but I read where the Denton city council voted 100% for the deal this past Tuesday. Project could be operating as early as 2014 Am I missing something?.

Board's been busy with all the bowl stuffs etc so you probably missed it:

Great news though BTW!

I read the previous threads but they were before the city's vote on Tuesday. With the expansion of I-35 and possibly Sac & Save going away (sometime in the future) the area should really be nice.

Meant 2015 above

Sac & Save looks like a dump. Hopefully it's going soon.

The last time I was there was 1999 or so. Saw a cockroach run across the aisle in front of me. Said screw this. I turned around and walked out, groceries still in the cart. Never set another foot in that pizz hole.

Oh man, Sack N Save. There will always be a bit of affection for their wide selection of awful, cheap beer.

Now Pancho's the Mexican buffet that provides numerous live cockroaches with its food (to which the manager absolutely cared not), that place can't be gone fast enough.

I love Sack n Save. Only place I shopped during the poorest time of my undergrad.

As did we all -- but it doesn't have to be the most visible landmark when you pull into the UNT front door either. Just relocate it.

I agree that the sack n save needs to be relocated. It's a ran down grocery store that welcomes potential students, educators, athletes, etc. and it's not a good first impression of the university.

They should clean up the whole area over there, and relocate sack N save, McDonald's, the gas station, and MAYBE Ihop too.

So we can have a really good entrance to the university with more green spaces and trees, and maybe an embodied huge class ring :) just in front of the Alumni building.

Bought my first booze at legal age at that Sack N Save. Back then, we had to drive to Lewisville to get some Panchos. Edited by UNT 90 Grad

Did Skillerns replace the livery stable or the blacksmith shop?

Wrong on both accounts.... :(

It replaced the "Yall Come Back Saloon" where Miss Kitty had her first job before she moved to Dodge, KS. :)

GMG!

PS: I know, it's 3:17 in the AM :hair:
