Honestly, i like the UNLV/MWC matchup. I think the HOD should work out something in the future to make sure it's always a MWC/CUSA matchup on New Years day. After all the MWC and CUSA were trying to work together during the big conference shake ups. Why not take two of their best teams and showcase them/the conferences on New Years Day. The MWC is a solid conference. What if we had gotten Boise? Could happen. Unfortunately, there's a pecking order in this thing we call college football.

Show up big, let's own this game for UNT... for CUSA!

I suspect it is counter productive. If 90% of the public interest is in P5 and the HOD does not showcase one of their teams, that is 90% of the public that has no interest in our game. They'd move us to the lowest network and weed out the bowl.

I have a feeling deep down in my stomach they are already doing that. The only thread giving us supposed-life is that we are on New Years Day.

Honestly, I love Vegas. Probably more so than anybody here. I used to know the town inside and out. I have done my share of NYE in Vegas, including the new millennium. NYE is NOT my favorite time to be in Vegas at all. They shut down the strip, lock the doors to the casinos (you must have hotel key to enter), and the streets fill with a few hundred thousand 20-somethings who've been drinking since six am that morning. On the plus side, you get to see lots of boobs. Depending on your view, it's also kinda fun to watch how many people the police cuff with zipties and cart off each fifteen minute period.

Most importantly, watch your step.

You don't love Vegas more than me, I know the town inside and out

We've already sold 16K.

According to ... ?

I know we've sold 10,000 but I keep seeing people drop these huge numbers.

Heart of Dallas said that they had sold roughly 5,000 tickets. They didn't say it publicly but I have sources and I've been right regarding attendance ever since I started my Twitter account, so choose what you want to believe.

OK, but HoD <> North Texas. You keep saying "we" as if North Texas is a part of HoD when in truth we're not. Unless you an confirm that all 5k tickets sold by HoD are for North Texas then lets try to be at least a little honest about our numbers.

I think we can make the leap that those 5k are most likely not made up primarily of UNLV fans. 3 of those 5,000 are mine.

I understand some of the tickets are indeed bought by North Texas fans but we shouldn't be claiming all 5k tickets sold as our own.

UNLV has sold 300 tickets from their allotment. I think that's a safe bet.

Let me put it to you in another way.

I'm planning to go the Armed Forces bowl yet I'm not really a fan of either program. I'm not planning to purchase the ticket via MTSU or Army, so that leaves me what other method to buy the ticket?

We should stop claiming all 5,000 tickets sold through the HoD as our own sales because we have no real way to confirm if those people are NT Fans or just John Q. Public who is interested in watching a game.

So UNT will bring considerably less fans to its bowl game in Dallas than it did in its late-season homecoming game. You don't really think logically sometimes, I can tell.

Thinking rationally would be realizing that more than half that crowd were students who were in semester, got free admission to the game (i know, I know, they paid student fees, but you know what I mean), and the game wasn't on a holiday where they may be back home with their family.

But that green logic cool aid much taste swell.

If we have a bad turn out for this game,it will hurt us for a bowl game next year. We need to have at least 15-20K to build our resume for the next bowl season. Lack of support is why we are playing UNLV and not a bigger name from a bigger conference.

We've already sold 10K allotment. 5-7K from other sites. Add about 2-3K walkups. I'd say we'll sell another allotment and there will be about 10K sold total through other sites total. That's a lot of fans. Add in probably 2K from UNLV that's a nicely attended bowl. I expect the crowd to be similar to the ULL New Orleans Bowl games.

The walk up crowd could be significant if the ticket prices are reasonable. I wonder if we are giving good discounts to all the Dallas and Dallas area high school students?

The only reason I can fathom that they put UNLV in this bowl is the Smatresk angle.

I know we are disappointed about drawing UNLV, but if we want to feel better, we should talk to some Baylor fans about UCF.
