"As of [last] Wednesday evening, Kunzer-Murphy said the university had sold a little less than 200 tickets but had approximately $22,000 in ticket revenue because some donors gave extra money.

The Rebels know they wont sell their entire ticket allotment, and may not even get close. They cant count on most players families to snatch up tickets because every player gets four complimentary seats to the game. In preparation for losing money on tickets, the university is trying to tighten its belt on travel expenses."

Wonder where they are ticket wise this week?

So U of Cincinatti with their 500 fans (300 of whom were their marching band) and for a NO's Bowl last decade will have had more fans than UNLV will bring in a 92,000 seat stadium?

Words cannot express my feelings for whom we were given as a HOD Bowl opponent.

UNT....................25K to 30K

City of Dallas......5K

UNLV..................Marching Band/Players Parents

One might start thinking we would have been better served in the perception department to have played Navy over at ACS,ie, a much smaller football venue. Per our Navy game at old Fouts, we know there will be many, many 'Middies in attendance at that game. And with the Middies at ACS then add "only' 25K Mean Green fans and it starts beginning to have that "almost full" look to it. One winning season last 10 years has just not given us much bargaining capital with bowl officials, folks. McCarney will change that soon.

Oh well, time to turn our limes into lime-ade, Mean Green Nation!

I think we still have a good contingency from North Texas if we can get some over-time help from those whose jobs it is to sell tickets. Maybe the City of Dallas ticket sales and distribution comes thru even more, too?

? Might UNLV losing their president to North Texas have had some adverse effects with some of the Reb fans and alums, too?

Would've been much better off against Navy - better atmosphere, better opponent, better stadium. Oh well, lets just go out and embarrass UNLV.

Was hoping for much better....... but still just tickled to be in a bowl. This is gonna be such a homegame we might as well just play it at Apogee....

I agree, but that means mtsu or someone else would be in Dallas to play another team that brought no one. Us in this bowl is the best thing for the HoD and cusa. Armed forces already has their one big ticket buyer in veterans.

I am not too concerned with attendance as long as we get next year and this years recruits to the game i think it will help the future of this program.

question: if the stadium is say 30% full of screaming Eagle fans will the sound echo off the remaining 70% empty seats?? because i still think the North Texas chant is going to sound awesome in the Cotton Bowl

There's already about approximately 20K sold. Will be a big crowd that will help recruits and an electric atmosphere. Going to be a huge party. UNLV is going down!

We've already sold 10K allotment. 5-7K from other sites. Add about 2-3K walkups. I'd say we'll sell another allotment and there will be about 10K sold total through other sites total. That's a lot of fans. Add in probably 2K from UNLV that's a nicely attended bowl. I expect the crowd to be similar to the ULL New Orleans Bowl games.

Question: where would you rather spend New Years Eve,Dallas or Las Vegas?I'm susprised the Rebels sold 200 tickets.

Honestly, I love Vegas. Probably more so than anybody here. I used to know the town inside and out. I have done my share of NYE in Vegas, including the new millennium. NYE is NOT my favorite time to be in Vegas at all. They shut down the strip, lock the doors to the casinos (you must have hotel key to enter), and the streets fill with a few hundred thousand 20-somethings who've been drinking since six am that morning. On the plus side, you get to see lots of boobs. Depending on your view, it's also kinda fun to watch how many people the police cuff with zipties and cart off each fifteen minute period.

Most importantly, watch your step.

I guess UNLV is going to let North Texas tow the entire rope with the HOD Bowl game attendance thing, right? :(

Someone in Dallas didn't think much of our school to give us a G5 opponent for a bowl game in a 92,000 seat stadium.

We'd been better off playing the Middie's of Navy over at ACS in Fort Worth because we know from our Fouts Field game with them that they do bring a crowd---many in uniforms to boot. Heck, we'd even gotten a fly-over, too! :abe:

We have to somehow take up the slack that UNLV is leaving us, folks. I've done my part and that is all I can do.

If you are not planning to come to Dallas on New Years Day....change your plans to help us with this challenge. With our huge DFW constituency, it is not beyond the realm of being do-able.

GMG!

I guess I don't understand the hand wringing. The HOD Bowl didn't really have the opportunity to get a higher profile team here. ESPN slotted things the way they wanted. They moved teams around to get Boise State a bigger opponent in their game and had to shuffle 2-3 other games to make that happen.

Don't look at this as some problem. Think of it as an opportunity. Should we get 40K or more...that are mostly all NT fans...think about how good that makes us look.

I don't think there will be that many City of Dallas ticket sales, tbh.

Another poster who I believe would know says that City of Dallas/HOD people have already sold 5,000 tickets.

This bowl game is also a charity event with some of its proceeds going to such, so some unaffiliated with UNT or UNLV might buy tickets just to help out whichever charities HOD officials have lined up to get some help.

Honestly, i like the UNLV/MWC matchup. I think the HOD should work out something in the future to make sure it's always a MWC/CUSA matchup on New Years day. After all the MWC and CUSA were trying to work together during the big conference shake ups. Why not take two of their best teams and showcase them/the conferences on New Years Day. The MWC is a solid conference. What if we had gotten Boise? Could happen. Unfortunately, there's a pecking order in this thing we call college football.

Show up big, let's own this game for UNT... for CUSA!

There were no BCS league teams that didn't get a bowl invite so we would have to choose between San Jose State or Central Michigan over UNLV. All of the other teams are in CUSA or the Belt. We wouldn't want to play any of those so this is pretty much the best we could get in a bad situation.

UNT will not bring 25 to 30k.

Maybe 16k
