Is the Lewisville bridge a major barrier or something? Can people north of the bridge not cross it to get to the DART stations?

If one has had any kind of libations at all, the Hickory Creek, Lake Dallas, Corinth, and State Trooper law enforcement lurking over a four-mile stretch around the Lake Lewisville Bridge, then yes. It is a major barrier.

As far as Tarrant county Alumi's are concerned put some gas in your car or truck and drive a few miles. I don't need to tell you what Hwy to take do I?

If you have nothing useful to suggest (and it was only a suggestion that I was asking for), other than waving your a-hole flag, then don't post anything at all. I'll look forward to the day that you, (or the other a-holes like you), need something in the way of a suggestion, that only I, or any of my other fellow Tarrant county alums, can provide. so we can take the train thingy in from lewisville on nyd, just not denton? correct??? great if so...i'll gladly drive or have the wifey drive back from the station in lewisville.

Northernmost station for green line is Downtown Carrollton.

Still worth it if for no other reason than to avoid parking.

No more than it is for fans that live south of it when trying to go to games on campus.

Besides, if you are going to drive half way there you might as well just drive all the way there. Let's you carry more beverages and what not. If you are going with more than a couple of people the cost difference isn't that bad. This is really just a missed opportunity for DCTA to be productive. They are a money hole and this would be one small instance where they would be useful.

So why is it such a big deal for people in Denton to drive 20 something minutes to Carrollton?

I don't think anything's a big deal, but if I can train it 100% from my house instead of driving halfway and training halfway, I'll take the former.

Drinking and driving aside, taking a train, absent rum soaked homeless trying to accost you for a dollar, is super soothing compared to trying to fend off the tailgaters behind you and the 20mph grandmas in front of you on 35E.

cool...stoked about this being able to happen...was worried we couldn't use the train at all...but now, just drive to carrollton...jump on...jump off at fair park and then do the reverse...sounds easy...will just need a mini keg of beer for the train ride down...

Northern most station is Frankford/North Carrollton, then Trinity Mills (where the A-Train stops), then Downtown Carrollton.

Oops. You are correct.

Edit: It appears that Frankford/North Carrollton has paid parking without permit.

That is the case right now but DART will discontinue this as they are not making enough money from the paid parking to pay the contractor that handles the parking as people have just moved down to the next station. I have no idea if they will cancel the contract or just not renew it. I think they are just starting year 2 of the 2 year contract.

I called both the TRE and the DCTA to complain about their lack of service on NYD and to let them know about the game. By the way, since I live in Collin County, I won't need either to get to the game, but thought I'd do my part. I'll pick up the Red or Orange line in Plano and switch to the Green line downtown to get to the game.

I do hold UNT and the athletic dept. partly responsible for not promoting the train either now or in the past. To be fair,however,for all the wonderful things RV has done for UNT, he is from Mississippi, after all, where the term mass transit probably conjures up a congregation of mule teams or something.

We are a major university in one of the largest metropolitan areas in the United States for heaven's sake and yet, in many ways, we continue to behave as a rural teacher's college in some deep East Texas backwater.

Perhaps we can get the media involved in this train fiasco.

Have never tried the train but want to for this game. If we get on in Carrollton, it really is a straight shot to fair park? No switching trains or lines? What is their capacity? If everyone opts for the train, is it possible to miss out because they're full? Will parking be an issue if the trains are full? Won't everyone be trying to return at the same time? (I'm not from Texas, don't live in Texas; mass transit is almost nothing here!) Enlighten me!

Soundslike DART will be releasing more info soon.

I'm not sure I agree with additional lines being added from just Victory station though. More trains from Carrollton might be a better idea given that you're likely to have more people from Denton coming to the game.

To answer your question about changing trains, if you were to get on the Green Line somewhere in Carrollton (Trinity Mills for instance) you can stay on that train until you get to Fair Park. It's about an hour ride so plan accordingly.

[/quote Once on the Green Line in Carrollton, there are no transfers. You will go directly to the front entrance to the fair grounds. Parking will not be a problem nor will the train probably be full. Remember, if necessary, you can stand up on the train in the unlikely event all the seats are taken.
