Haha, I kind of kid about walking--probably green line for me as well--though I have made the walk to Fair Park from home before (about a mile and a half), which isn't too bad on a good weather day.

It is generally safe, but there have been some violent incidents on DART trains within the past couple of years. I don't believe any of those have ever occurred during busier times--especially times where most passengers were going to sporting events. They have been more off-peak and late night occurrences.

easiest way to get there is the train, couple of nice pubs across the street from where the train stop if you need to make a pit stop.

I would like to tail gate, but probably just take the train

Yeah, you can stop at Craft and Growler and fill up with some good Texas craft beers to go for your tailgate.

I've been there a couple times for the Red River Rivalry and never had any issues with tailgating. The MEAN GREEN nation can't let the t-sips and sooners out tailgate us in our own back yard... even if it is the hood. If you park in the lot on the Fair Grounds it shouldn't be an issue.

GO MEAN GREEN!!!

The only way to go from Denton, Lewisville etc. is the train, but perhaps we should make sure that DCTA realizes that we have a bowl game that day and that there will be an increased demand. There seems to often be a lack of communication between DCTA and UNT events anyway. There was no shuttle, for example on that cold, cold UTSA game day. The last thing we need, for example, is for the Atrain to CURTAIL service New Years day because it is, in fact, New Tears Day. It has been my experience as a loyal ATrain customer that such a miscalculation is quite. possible.

DCTA is a giant question mark. According to their schedule, they are closed on major holidays. DART runs their weekend schedule for holidays but might add additional trains for the times before and after the game.

Gleaned from the DCTA.net site:

Hours of Operation

A-train operates Monday through Saturday. Monday through Thursday hours are 5:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. with limited frequencies during the middle of the day. On Friday, A-train service operates 5:00 a.m. until past Midnight with limited frequencies during the middle of the day and during the extended evening hours. Saturday A-train service runs 9:30 a.m. until past midnight with limited frequencies throughout the day. Because of the limited frequencies during the off-peak hours, passengers are encouraged to check the transit schedules and determine appropriate transit connections. Whenever possible, DCTA has published the Green Line scheduled connection. The A-train does not operate on Sundays or major holidays.
