So the thought is that ESPN wanted to put someone else in the Hawaii bowl against Boise, presumably Oregon St? Since that bumped a CUSA team, they had to find a spot, which ended up being the Armed Forces bowl, which then required a spot for a MWC team, which they are placing in the HOD bowl?

Is that the logic of how the HOD bowl ends up with a MWC team?

Though no one wants to actually go to Hawai'i, it will suck to lose the shared payout from it.

This sounds about right.

Again, congratulations to Middle Tennessee for landing the Armed Forces Bowl. Its a good get for them. They won 5 straight to go 8-4 on the season after we defeated them at Apogee. Good luck MTSU.

Go C-USA.

So...

C-USA gave the PAC 12 a spot in the Hawaii Bowl... to play Boise State, in exchange for a spot in the Armed Forces Bowl... allowing MTSU to play Navy, and the MWC sends UNLV to the HOD instead of the Armed Forces?

Is that how this trade works? Is this how we got stuck with UNLV?

That's a good trade for MTSU. Not so much for us.

Kind of wish we were playing navy instead of unlv

The recruiting bump from Heart of Dallas is much bigger for us. I just don't see us entertaining recruits in TCU's stadium in TCU's town as being very effective...

Not complaining...but of all the bowl-bound teams that we did not play this year, I cannot think of a matchup that will create less enthusiasm for our fans and fans of college football in general.

This has been said before, but one of these days our fans will show up to root on NT rather than see NT play whoever it is we are playing. Alabama had 101,000 when we played them a few years ago. Think NT was an enthralling matchup for them? I bet they'd rather have been playing UNLV...

Good point, but navy is an opponent people care about and an opponent that will bring lots of people. The game atmosphere will be 10x that of unlv. Not to mention, I'd like a rematch Edited by the green rokemi

I agree Harry. Can you imagine having to bring our recruits into Amon Carter? No thank you.

Let's make this a celebration and enjoy the opportunity to play in the Cotton Bowl on New Year's day. If we show that we can turn out in big numbers and play well on the field, we will continue to change perceptions.

Congrats to MTSU, they had an equally good year.
