I worked the Fort Worth Cowboy Santa's kick off fund raiser event last week and the starting bid for a framed, autographed Tony Dorsett Pitt jersey was $1200.

Im willing to bet people who know college football know who the Pitt Panthers are.

Unfortunately it doesn't sound like we will be getting a "big name" opponent...at least in the mind of people down here...whoever the opponent is we just need to win.

Same could be said about us from the other fan base

Especially after being off the bowl map for a decade which in modern era is light years

We need to show up reguardless who we play

Our other modern era bowl opponents were Colorado State, Cincy, Memphis and Southern Miss. It will be interesting to see where this team will stack up against those.

I would like to see either Syracuse or Pittsburgh. They are both big, physical teams that can wear you down but I think we could hold our own against either. Pittsburgh has been in a lot of good games with quality opponents so it would be a major challenge. Same with Syracuse and they beat up Tulane pretty good. Hopefully our speed could neutralize (somewhat) their size. Looking forward to the game whoever the opponent is. Just glad to be in a bowl!

They may not be a juggernaut right now, but I'd still consider Pitt a pretty big name - especially if we're trying to get lots of average Joe and Jane Alumni to come that don't follow the standings every year. A recognizable opponent will help with that...maybe not at the top of our wish lists, but in order to get disconnected alumni and fans involved, just about any of the names recently mentioned - Pitt, Syracuse, or BC - would help with that goal. It may not be a "strong" win in the eyes of the experts, but for our purposes, any of these should serve fairly well as we continue to build under Mac.

I think any of those Eastern schools would be great for the exposure we would get in those power markets. We would get some good eyeballs from cities such as New York, Pittsburgh or Boston if any of those schools were chosen, and we were to of course.

I think having two Cowboys on the sidelines in Dorsett and Dunbar would be pretty awesome if it could be worked out. First let's get the bowl bid and then work like heck to bring the house in attendance over the next 3 weeks.

Based on the number of Pittsburgh fans at Cowboys games, I think there are a ton of people from that area in the DFW that would come out of the woodwork.

Put me down for Pitt. I think it would be well attended and a good game.

Happy days on the Pitt fan board:

"Seriously North Texas? Lose to them and Pitt will need to shut down their program."

Ahh. Bulletin board material. Bring 'em on! Edited by UNT 90 Grad

Awesome. Now we will DEFINITELY win if we play them. Talking smack on a fan message board leads to bad karma and poor play. I called and verified it.
