schools in your conference? Especially now that football is dominating most of the TV dollars? I can see why having Rice, SMU, Tulsa, and Tulane was once looked upon very favorably, and each have been invited to the table in the past due to their academic prestige, but each of them now seem to have limited value for TV contracts/eyeballs.

Do they still bring the same value to the table? Even when they are doing well, their fan support seems limited. When they were playing the flagship schools they typically provided a gateway to a large metropolitan area that was chocked full of state flagship alumni, but if the conference already has the local large public university in those metro areas, what is the value/upside?

It mostly seems like CUSA is following the large public university approach, but not really. It also seems like the AAC is really confused, by having some of the largest, but still having 3 small privates, and seemingly having an appetite for Rice in the future.

It will be interesting to see what unfolds the next 10 years. I think we are as well positioned as we have been in a long time.

I do too. With continued success (and we need this for our wishes to come true) we could easily be eyed for future conference moves. We need a history of winning, bowl games, and success. With that comes freedom. We haven't had freedom or a voice, in a while.

I think most years most Southwest area privates are going to be fighting for 4'th, 5'th & 6'th place finishes in a conference like the Big 12. Oh yes, there will be occasional exceptionslike Baylor this year, but I look for the Bears to go back to being BU once they come back to earth and the new'ness wears off their stadium. UT will be back and will be back soon so that will kick the BU's and TCU's down another notch. Just my .02 on all this and from watching all these schools along with their histories since I bought my first Dave Campbell's Texas Football magazine, circa 1964 AND buying that magazine....at Griffins General Store, Danbury, Texas, as seen below! LOL! (And please don't call me Opie Taylor)!24292_2811014051961_1753547611_n.jpg

Only way Rice ever makes it into the AAC is if UH leaves...no more overlap in TV markets for far-flung conferences. I think UH will be in the MWC in a few years, with other Texas schools, such as UTEP, UTSA, and either us or SMU.

The size of your privates shouldn't matter so much as the performance of your privates. RIght? RIGHT???

The importance of the size of your privates has been debated for quite some time. While some argue that size matters, others say that just belonging to the privates is enough.

Others, however, believe that the bigger your privates, the more resources you have to penetrate to their very core. To some, I can see how that is a valuable asset.

Then again, others argue that the smaller your privates, the more comfortable one may be due to the 'small-time' feel.

Either way, I think that all privates should be well manicured, clean, and polished to make it as inviting as possible.

PENIS!

I think SMU, Rice, Tulsa, and Tulane will play at this level of competition as long as they want to put the money up for it. Obviously Tulane thinks that will be a while since they're building a new stadium. During the next big conference shift, however, I don't see a single one of them being a factor. Obviously the Big East schools that split didn't see them as adding value to their brand.

One needs to take a long, hard look at the privates to see just how deep their endowments are. It's important to see what their staffs are able to breed. One should also pay attention to their master plans for erection of structures. If nothing is to stand tall, then it all just falls flat.
