Chuck Carlton in the DMN lists North Texas in the HOD with the opponent TBD hinging on if the Big Ten has one or two BCS bowl teams. If there is only one Big Ten BCS bowl team then Michigan might be in the HOD.

None. That's a guaranteed 30,000 tickets in my opinion. Just for us.

If they schedule a Michigan or Nebraska they will set the HoD record.

I totally agree with this. If we are selected and either of the above schools get selected, then just the casual mention of it alone on local sports stations would/should generate at least 30K in NT ticket sales.

Is there any reason why the HOD bowl *wouldn't* take us? I mean, what better option exists?

Some of us who've been around this program for 40 plus years can tell you a reason could probably be found but good God Almighty...please let there be no reason that would be found.

We had 19K for our last home game when there should have been 31,000--I'm hoping the new UNT prez will take a strong (and researched) look as to why we ain't selling to and drawing too many more fans that we did 30 plus years ago. There is really something quite fallacious about that and I won't be satisfied until a new unbiased UNT prez gives us all an answer as to why. (I still defer to my signature below).

Coach Mac is one we do need to hang onto for quite awhile. He has (and is) doing his job.

GMG!

Geez.

We can't even sell out homecoming, and that is with a student section that gets in for free, and you guys think we sell 30k tickets to the HOD bowl?

Delusional.

If we bring 15k, I'd be ecstatic. And so would the HOD bowl.

You people are killing me with all of the "I'd like to see this and that team" wishes. We're still a team with 2 C-USA losses. I would not be looking forward to playing a Nebraska or an Oregon State.

Right, because a game against Texas St is so much more appealing...

It's a bowl game. I want a test for this football team. Michigan would be perfect.

You do realize 15K students came to that game, right? That's bigger than a lot of SEC student sections.

God forbid the apathetic alumni do anything. You know what make them do something?

A bowl game. In Dallas. Against Michigan or Nebraska.

I don't think the students' desire to attend the game is the issue. It's the $75/ticket price tag. Unless there is some way to heavily subsidize that price for the students, you can't count on very many of them to attend.

Friend was at Tech when they went to HoD. Regular tickets were $75. They ended up offering students $15 tickets. Likely UNT will give them for even cheaper.

There are 4 levels of tickets offered:

  • $125.00
  • $75.00
  • $50.00
  • $25.00

We don't know where students might sit but the fans that buy the $75.00 tix sit between the 10s.

$75 price tag is bogus. There will be tickets that are significantly cheaper.

I went to the Penn State v. UH game two years ago and got tickets for around $30.

That will certainly help. Looks like the endzones are being offered @ $25. I suppose to get down to $15, UNT will need to subsidize them, unless the HoD Bowl would be willing to sell some to the school at that price or less.
