How did the three teams exiting CUSA for the AAC fare in their final week of conference play?

East Carolina - 28

Marshall - 59

Tulsa - 10

North Texas - 42

Tulane - 13

Rice - 17

Conference pride is a sweet, sweet thing!

The AAC is no Big East.

A conglomeration of teams who, for various short spurts in various times in history, have enjoyed some anomaly successes, which have their fan bases delusional and believing that they belong on the same level with the SEC, in a new conference, with the same relevance as the Sun Belt, never to be torn asunder.

If the AAC folds, I could see some of those teams trying to come back.

I don't know why it would fold. None of the remaining teams will get into ACC or Big 12. They'll just be about as relevant as the WAC right about the time the Mountain West formed.

There are about thirty true, big-time college football programs complete with payrolls and locker room hookers that Craig James hasn't yet killed.

There are about thirty more programs that have successfully latched on via geographical proximity and historical relationships.

Then there is everybody else. We're part of everybody else. The entire AAC is part of everybody else. We know where we stand, we work within the confines of available resources to build and improve. They believe they have a birthright to eat Nick Saban's table scraps.

But we're all on the same level, in the same boat.

Looking at how Conference USA firmed up versus the AAC, I'm happy with how everything ended up. I'm sure that if an invite was extended for us to join that conference, there'd have to be some thought put into it, but it doesn't feel like the great divide there was between the Sun Belt and CUSA in perception or on the field. In basketball, I hope the conference aspires up to what Charlotte is doing instead of down to UTSA.

CUSA had 6 teams with a total of 13 wins for the season, with La. Tech leading the bottom of the barrel with 4 victories. While Georgia State in the Belt didn't win a game,USA had 5 wins, and the other 6 schools had at least 6 victories. Not much separation between Conferences, and football gets weaker with loss of ECU and Tulsa, even though Hurricanes had an off year.I hate to see Tulane go as well simply because its great to go to New Orleans, plus their football program may be on upswing. W.K. comes on board next year which will help a little.

Pretty much agree, on some level, with all of you. Let's not pretend we enjoy them leaving, because those three schools would be great conference mates, and if the AAC does falter I hope they come back. But until such a day as that, let's also hope CUSA teams wipe up the field with them whenever they meet.
