Saw the Meat puppets in high school play there (band that played with Nirvana in their acoustic set) so I have good memories there, but i'd put East Side as my current #1 even though it's still fresh.

Ya know the Pups were a band for about 13 years before Nirvana covered three of their songs and asked them to sit in on it, right?

I actually like GreenHouse a lot.... But it's no bar.

If they're still doing live jazz in the bar, that place could get pretty raucous with the right group...and classin' up a music night out by going to GreenHouse rather than Andy's or the JJs Pizza basement certainly got 21 year old CBL laid a few times.

Is Hailey's still a shithole? When it first opened I loved that place...but I went back maybe 2 years ago and while it still had the massive tap wall only about 5 or 6 of them actually had taps in...and the fanciest thing may've been a Shiner seasonal.

Is the Labb where Billy's Brewery used to be? Hopefully the double b is a shout out.

Short of that, and from what I know of Denton still, I think this list is pretty spot on. I get how Rubber Gloves isn't everyone's kind of place, but that might be my perfect bar...divey, industrial, loud, tucked away quite literally on the wrong side of the tracks...the day that place finally falls apart will be a sad and mournful day for many.

Pfftt. 21-year-old oldguy couldn't beat them away with a stick, dingy bar, hoity toity bar, or case of Lucky Lager in the living room watching Frasier. Hardly a metric. Come talk to me when you're 41. The game gets real then. (Actually still pretty easy, but with much, much, much more dire repercussion.)

I throw darts so my favorite bars are dart bars. Tavern on the Green, Cool Beans, and the other one in that area are the ones I go to.

I get that not everybody who drinks also smokes, but for me cirrhosis without cancer is just pointless. I don't mind if there's a patio or something, but if there aren't smoking options, I might sip a margarita, wine, or vodka tonic but don't expect me to drink much. If I'm going beer or whiskey, then tar and nicotine are a requisite tandem.

Also, I don't care what you call the Greenhouse, that place is freaking awesome. But I've missed out a lot since I left so I can't wait to troll around a bit when I get back. I've only been to bars for anything other than food and events a few times in the last 5 years, so it may not be as much fun with my whole "responsible mode". That makes me feel really old..."Hey, that sounds like so much fun! Oh, but I have to get back and tuck the kids into bed."

No way Rubber Gloves should be ahead of Dan's. Don't get me wrong though, I enjoy RGRS, but the acoustics just aren't that great most of the time. Dan's sounds great and I've always enjoyed the atmosphere more, but that's just my personal preference of course.

Also, I absolutely cannot stand Paschall's. It's like drinking in a freaking library that's overrun with annoying Denton hipsters.

I enjoy the cut of your jib.

Jury's still out on Paschall's for me. I like the cocktails and the pricing. I'm curious about the absinthe (although I'm certain it's more gimmick than great american novel inducing).

The unmarked door/speakeasy/fake moustache vibe is kinda Disneyland haunted mansion to me. The library feel, I don't mind, but neither do I swoon.

Just found out about Paschall's and I really like the place; however, I've only been there once. I assume if I visit at least thrice I'll have a better indication.

Thing is, if I'm gonna' end up in a bar in Denton now, especially if in downtown, it's most certainly going to be Oak Street or East Side. Those two have kinda' ruined me for further exploration.
