North Texas has enjoyed a productive first season in the CUSA at 5-1 which ties them for the top spot in the West division. The offense has produced some average looking numbers yet average over 30 points because their defense is above average and wins the battle of field position. Both sides of the ball were at their best in a 41-7 rout of Texas El Paso with a 471-184 advantage in real estate. While the defense put the clamps on the Miners rushing attack the Mean Green exploded with 317 yards and almost a 7 1/2 yard average. Brandin Byrd went off for 202 yards on 18 totes with a pair of scores including an 82 yard jaunt. Derek Thompson was quiet through the air with a 10-24 effort producing 154 yards and a TD but that was plenty with the defense turning in a sterling performance and their dominance on the ground.

I see two teams playing well but North Texas is solid at home and are very tough on the defensive side of the football. I think defense is the winner here...

Mark's Pick: North Texas -8

This could be a much tougher game than most think...their QB seems to be as good as DT, esp if you look at last weeks game...DT din't look so good last game...looked like his old self. They are running the ball as well as we are, but then they haven't played our outstanding defense. The pass concerns me alot, while we have improved in our coverage...still looks very questionable many times. They too force fumbles and they have shown they can put up points, even if it is against a pretty good 2nd string at OK State.

This is a game we could lose , especially if we don't keep the offense in full speed.

We need to put pressure on QB

Make sure we cover the pass better, especially the long pass

Watch of misdirection plays, trick plays...they will pull out all of the stops on this game...we should do the same

Lets hope DT is on target on this game...he could win it or lose it for us very easily.

Our D line should do well as usual

Our big play makes will show up as well

Apogee will be rocking like you have never seen it before...count on it.

So who wins?....since no one knows, I'll say we win by 14 points...lets hope Mac has them ready.
