We Can Clinch on Saturday

If Rice loses Thursday, we may know before the end of the UTSA game that we've punched our ticket to the Championship game.

Long shot, given the teams Rice/Tulane are playing. But it is possible.

I think Tulane and rice each have to lose for us to clinch. If we win on Saturday but lose to Tulsa and Tulane wins out, doesn't Tulane win the west?

This post is incorrect.

We must win out to "clinch" CUSA West.

We are tied with Rice, but hold the tie breaker.

If we get in a 2 loss situation, Tulane holds the tie breaker with us.

But let's not get ahead of our selves. Lets meet UTSA and finish the season undefeated at home. Then Tulsa, the championship game, and then the bowl.

No, we can clinch Saturday. We would need us to win and Rice and Tulane to lose. That would put Tulane at three losses with one game to go. They wouldn't be able to catch us so the tie-breaker would be irrelevant. Then Rice with 2 losses and us at 1 going into the last week would be insurmountable for them as well, since we would hold the tie-breaker and all they would be able to do would be tie-us.

Highly unlikely, but mathematically we can clinch Saturday.
