I've posted numerous times that we should have been marketing FB to the Frisco area and even (yuck) partnering up with the Cowboys. Then after the scheduling issue, I brought it up again regarding BB.
We should be getting the kids interested in the Mean Green from early ages by offering ticket deals, etc. to residents in that area. It may not work, but it's something we should definitely try given that this area is one of the fastest growing areas in the nation. We really don't won't Cooke and Grayson counties to be a bunch of Sooner fans in 50 years.
He was fired from Texas Tech due to a controversial Bible reference. He made the Sweet 16 his first and only full season there.
UT Pan Am was 30+ years ago. He was very successful everywhere else.
I know he's old. I'm only suggesting him because he's a proven winner who could be here for a few years and groom another young coach. This is an important hire and that Sweet 16 Tech run was just 3 years ago. He's still very much in the game. Had he not been fired for the Bible verse controversy, he'd probably still be winning at Tech and we'd likely still have McCasland.
just listened to the McCasland interview on the ticket from yesterday, I think we were lucky to have hired him and think that Tech is going to have to back up the Brinks truck in his driveway soon. His career might just be getting started.
You are fighting with yourself on this, lol. It's not a chicken or egg thing, which came first. You must have a coach that can recruit first, all else fails regardless of system.
Quality teams get away with not having an identity all the time because they have elite talent. Take Memphis.... 80ppg and 73ppg/allowed. One game would be guard oriented and the next would be dominated by their 2 bigs. Defense was mid, efficiency was mid, they wanted to run if they could, but then they'd play through their bigs. Their "identity" was basically having better players with very mid coaching. IOW, they didn't have an identity. They certainly are not alone.
