Trey Norris Update from South Dakota

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Billy Baron scored a game-high 27 points and drilled a go-ahead 3-pointer with 57 seconds left Monday night to lead Canisius to a season-opening 71-66 win over South Dakota.

Point guard Trey Norris drew a foul and made two free throws to pull the Coyotes within 67-66 with 51 seconds left. Chris Perez hit a jumper with 20 seconds left to push the Grifs’ lead back to three.

Norris missed on a tying 3-pointer. Baron rebounded and was fouled with five seconds left. His two free throws sealed the win.

Canisius led 21-12 eight minutes into the contest, but the Coyotes pulled within 35-33 before halftime. USD guard Brandon Bos scored 10 of his 13 points in the first half and knocked down three 3-pointers. Tyler Larson scored 10 points off the bench for USD.

Plus, since my last post he is shooting 41% 3PT and averaging 9 PPG. Making right at one trey per game. I think one of the reasons we let him go was that he couldn't shoot. After a slow start, he is 15-29 from three point range. After recent revelations, we certainly can't chalk this up as inferior competition, as SD OCC was much more challenging than ours.
