Bowl Questions

Banowsky himself was asked if the champion was FOR SURE going to go to the Liberty bowl and he refused to comment.

What I am assuming that means is that because the Liberty bowl will soon no longer be a CUSA bowl, and that they are hoping for a long term relation with the HoD, if we win conference we may well end up in the HoD.

Just read this on the Liberty Bowl wikipedia site;

The SEC was also given veto power for the bowl, and chose to use it in 2011 to block C-USA champion Southern Miss from playing Vanderbilt; instead Cincinnati got the spot and Southern Miss accepted an invitation to the Hawaii Bowl instead.

What if it is Tennessee and we are conference champs, maybe they can veto us. ('75?)

That is what I am hoping

I don't think it matters since bowls trade teams like playing cards, but CUSA #1 should go to Liberty Bowl, and #2 to Hawaii.I am more concerned as to our position regarding tiebreaker as to who hosts CUSA championship. Our national ranking will not increase by beating UTSA and Tulsa, but ECU will jump if they beat both North Carolina in non conference game as well as Marshall at Huntington .The winner of ECU/Marshall game will be East Division champion, probably ranked ahead of us, and host CUSA championship.Am I correct in my assumption, as I am not 100% sure?

I think we can still potentially host if Marshall beats out ECU for the Eastern Champion, but if ECU wins out they will host. As far as #2 to Hawaii is concerned, I sure hope that isn't correct. I'd like to think that we still have a chance to play in Dallas if we were to lose the CUSA Championship game. Someone correct me if that's not true.

Marshall will not be able to make up that much ground in the BCS standings over the next three weeks. If NT and Marshall win out we will host unless something very strange happens.

Marshall is the best team ECU has left to play, and that's not saying much, but still, if Marshall can pull it off that is exactly what we need as long as we can win out. And Hawai'i gets the #2 pick, not the #2 team necessarily. HoD is looking pretty good if we don't win the title game, possibly even if we do win it. First...UTSA.

Why does HoD look good in that scenario? Would the Aloha Bowl have a reason to pick a different team from CUSA over North Texas? I get that HoD may want NT, but the Aloha Bowl would first have to want someone else, I'd think.

Question, no info.

I was whining yesterday to a coworker about the frustration of the unknown related to the NT bowl situation. Basically, too many of my coworkers are now planning family vacations around the holidays thereby making it nearly impossible for me to attempt to be off work surrounding one of our bowl games (other than HOD on Jan 1). At this point, MAYBE New Orleans on a Saturday is doable, but otherwise, I'm out of luck from a travel perspective. At the conclusion of our conversation, though, I couldn't help but stop myself and realize the truth that matters most...

How dare I be upset. It's just great to be in a position to worry or be frustrated by the uncertainty of bowl trip planning!

Yeah, pretty much HOD or GTFO for me. I just don't exist in a world where I can pick up and leave for two or three days on a week's notice anymore. First world problems indeed.

ECU ranked # 46,Marshall # 52, UNT # 57. I don't see how we jump over the winner of ECU at Marshall.

Where did you get these numbers?

I haven't seen Marshall that high. Are these the updated week 12 numbers?

Here's what's posted on C-USA and agrees with CBSSports:

47. ECU

55. North Texas

58. Rice

69. Tulane

72. MT

75. Marshall

82. WKU

84. UTSA

87. FAU

104. La Tech

107. UAB

107. Tulsa

114. FIU

120. UTEP

121. USM

That is the correct BCS list as of week 11.

If ECU and NT win out, there is a very small, but non zero chance we pass them.

If Marshall and NT win out, there is almost no chance they catch us.

We need to win out, Marshall needs to win out, then we play the CUSA CG in Apogee.
