A top 25 ranking would have been crazy talk back in August, but if we win out could it happen?

Ball State is getting a few votes and may get ranked in the next poll.

So my question to the Mean Green Nation is:

Can UNT get at least 1 vote in the polls by the end of the year?

I'll repeat my question.

That is not a ranking, just a little nod of respect.

What happens it we win the CUSA title and are 10-3 at that point?

What if we win a bowl and go 11-3?

Call me optimistic, but the 21-21 tie in the 2nd half of the Georgia game got us noticed.

Voters remember stuff like that when you have a good record to go with it.

LaTech finished last season 9-3, with all 3 of their losses being to ranked teams, and one of those losses being a 2-point loss to white-hot A&M. And they ended with zero votes in the AP poll and 2 votes in the coaches' poll. So if we win out, and our bowl opponent is solid, I could see us getting a couple votes. Not actually ranked, though.

..

Ball State is now 9-1 ... and the one loss is to UNT. They are now listed 35 in BCS before this week... We might get some votes, but not ranked in top 25.

10-3 will get votes. 11-3 will get a top 25 finish.

Kind of my thoughts also, but I also think there's a chance for a Mac respect vote or two at 9-3 if we blow out our final two opponents. Our opponent and performance in the bowl game will obviously have a lot to do with where we end up.

I really don't see it happening in the regular season. But if we are in, and win, the conference championship, then I can see us getting some more recognition. Go to, and win, the Liberty Bowl and there's an outside chance at a Top 25 finish depending on how the other bowls go.

Sure... after all, coach Mac has a vote. So do several other C-USA coaches.

By voters not coaching in the C-USA? Not a snowballs chance.

I think we would be ranked, but at 11-3 we EASILY at least get votes. LALA, now at 7-2, got 5 votes in the last Coaches Poll and their big wins are over Western Kentucky and Texas State. I think we could even get a vote in one of the polls after a blowout win over UTSA.

If it's going to be East Carolina in the CUSA Championship game, it looks like it might be really important for them to lose in 2 weeks at NC State if we want a chance of hosting the game. Otherwise, it's looking likely that we'll have to hope that Marshall can pull off a win over them in the finale. I'd love to have two more home games.

The East Carolina vs Marshall game is at Marshall. Marshall has a decent shot.

So now you want to get picky over where the votes come from? Unbelievable.

Had we closed the deal against Tulane and Ohio, then yes, I think so. A win in the CUSA title game followed by a win over an SEC team in the Liberty Bowl and I'd say the chances are good.
