ODU will play every other Eastern Division opponent every season. Next season, ODU will be joined by Marshall, Western Kentucky, Middle Tennessee State, Florida Atlantic and Florida International in the East.

Marshall (5-3), Western Kentucky (5-4) and Middle Tennessee (5-4) all appear likely to go to bowl games this season.

Alabama-Birmingham is in the East this season but figures to move to the West Division next year.

ODU will fill out its schedule with three teams from the West: Rice, Southern Mississippi, Louisiana Tech, Texas-San Antonio, Texas-El Paso and North Texas, in addition to UAB.

Looking forward to having Southern Miss in the division with us. Sure they're down right now, but honestly, that team has great name recognition, great fans, and is usually a good team.

Totally OK with this. We get two of the remaining CUSA teams that weren't playing middle school recess pickup games last season, even if UAB isn't the most marquee of names, it's definitely more recognizable than, say, it's cousin Troy. And Southern Miss is Southern Miss. They'll pick up again.

Hmmm... anyone else notice that Marshall will be the ONLY team in C-USA east that will have been part of C-USA for more than 2 seasons.... I would feel pretty horrible about this if I were them

USM is a positive.

UAB is a meh... No one in Texas knows or cares about them.

What? Need to emphasize that we will play the University of Alabama birmingham each year. It's all in the marketing and our AD rocks at marketing, or so i've been told.

This is a positive. It puts as much distance between UNT & MTSU, WKSU, & the Florida twins as possible.

Have I ever mentioned that I hate the Sun Belt?

Hmm. they care less than ULM? I don't think so.

Yes, less than ULM. Between Duck Dynasty which did part of a show at ULM's stadium and ULM playing a lot of teams and pulling upsets in the last five years ULM certainly has a higher name recognition in Texas than UAB and certainly ODU.

Yes I'm glad we're out of the Belt but there are a few CUSA teams that have no name recognition in Texas.

We really need to win this conference the next couple of years and move to the AAC or MWC. This has been a fun ride but lets be honest CUSA is awful this year. And, we are losing the remaining teams that have any name value. Lets take advantage of the successes we have and get out.

Really, one year and we are calling this a terrible conference and declaring that it is time to leave? Let's let the paint dry and see what we have in a couple of years.

Plus, you make it sound so easy. We should just give them a call and they will let us in. A one year bowl streak after a nine year drought? SOLD! Sign here.

You're partially right, but as long as we have the Texas schools in CUSA west we should be fine.

USM is a program that can be very successful, but I really do feel that we have the highest ceiling of any school in our division. Maybe even the conference.

As for the East I hope Marshall stays in CUSA at least as long as we do. I could see us being the top dog in the west and them in the east, making for a good chance of us matching up in the championship game fairly often. Although MUTS and WKU are solid as well as FAU being in the come up.

Hopefully the East can pick it up quickly. It's not an attractive looking division. Maybe if MUTS and WKU can step it up. Compare West to East...

West

North Texas

Rice

UTEP

UTSA

La. Tech

Southern Miss

UAB

East

FIU

FAU

MUTS

WKU

ODU

Charlotte

Marshall

I feel really sorry for Marshall. They are really getting F'd in this deal.

I certainly look at it this way, but hey, at least they can look at it as a chance to dominate their division for the next several years and hold their breath that the MAC or AAC comes calling.

That's a good way to make a North Texas fan very, very glad that we are in C-USA West.
