DENTON, Texas – North Texas’ Rachel Holden and Kelsey Hodges headlined the 2013 Conference USA soccer superlatives. The Mean Green duo earned the C-USA Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year awards, respectively, while Vanessa Ibewuike was named to the C-USA third team All-Conference.

Rachel is only a freshman (named Frosh of the Year) and was the only CUSA player to earn Player of the Week honors on two different occasions.

It appears Hedlund has the program in position to keep rolling in the new conference.

also from the article...

North Texas earned the West No. 2 seed in the C-USA Tournament and will take on East No. 3 FIU on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. in Houston.

Great for those two, both are fantastic players. I did think that NT deserves more than1 player on the second and third teams. Too bad, NT's goalkeeper was out for the conference race, Riley has been an able replacement; but Kerestine could have made a difference in several games.

They should have a real shot at the title.
