The last month of the college football season is about to begin for UNT, and there is a lot to like about the way it sets up.

While most of the rest of the college football world was hard at it on Saturday, UNT had a couple of days to regroup after a big win over Rice on Thursday.

UNT faces UTEP, which is just 1-7 on the year, on Saturday at Apogee Stadium. The Mean Green then has a week off before facing UTSA and then Tulsa to close out the regular season.

If Tulsa could do us one big solid and take care of Marshall, UNT would really appreciate it.

And then if Marshall would do UNT a solid and handle up on ECU at home, UNT would be happy to host the Herd at Apogee.

Make it happen.

We probably don't need Tulsa to beat Marshall to get home field. We have a significant lead on them in the BCS.

My scenario gives the East leader 2 losses.

Win out and we host without any stupid tiebreaking systems to worry about.

I honestly just love that our schedule for the last half of the season is:

@ La Tech

@ Southern Miss

Rice

UTEP

UTSA

@Tulsa

instead of:

Louisiana-Lafayette

@MUTS

Arkansas State

South Alabama

@Louisana-Monroe

@Western Kentucky

As they should. They have the better QB.

I'd wager we have the better Defense and you know what they say about Defense and Championships.

They have 22 defensive players on scholarship.

They give up 41.0 points a game (114th nationally) , compared to our 19.9 (20th).

Really going out an a limb with that wager...

Well, next year, we replace Tulsa on your list with Western Kentucky, but your point remains...its still nice to get away from the awful name recognition of the Sun Belt Conference. Even when the SBC has been decent, it still got no respect...
