I didn't want to post this before the Rice game, because I didn't want to jinx/detract from probably the biggest game of the regular season.

Anyway...who else noticed that if we win out, Mac will be at .500 for games at North Texas? I believe I read a while back that his overall record as a HC was pretty far below that, but with a few more seasons like this he could break even, pretty good for a "turnaround specialist".

Of course first we have to complete our home stand and then take Tulsa on the road, and they've won something like the last 10 so we really need our guys to stay as consistently good as they've been over the last few games!

GMG!

Hahaha....

@oldguystudent. My mental stability should no longer be in question. There are people on here that literally need medication for BPD or Alzheimer's.

Wow. So predictable.

By the way, I'm with you all. I think he should get an extension too. BUT I thought this at game 4........

Give Mac an extension

It's tempting but I'd hold off on that for now. Keep the years for now but give a pay raise for the coaching staff. Assess after the season and say we'll add another year. He still has 2 years remaining after this season. There is no reason to rush. This season has been great but I want to see this every year and to warrant a nice hefty raise and extension.

To be fair, we have good reason to be leery of coaching staff fanboys around here.

Mac has two years remaining on his contract? Needs to be extended or it will be used against him in recruiting. That's more important than giving raises for recruiting. Barry Switzer said that when he took the job at Oklahoma they only gave him a one year deal. He said that's fine but announce it as a four year deal so it wouldn't hurt recruiting. He wasn't worried about a one year contract because he knew the Oklahoma roster was so stacked he would have a great season anyway.

We should all be proud of how coach Mac has raised the play and

attitude of our team. Our program is now being noticed by the ESPN's

Of fotball, and now we should be able to start making hay with recruits.

Let's fill Apogee for homecoming.

Mac is doing pretty good, UNT is hot with this group of players, and a bowl game is looking likely. We gotta keep winning and keep this excitement around. This is fairly new for some and a welcomed reoccurrence for others. Let's win against UTEP, UTSA, and Tulsa, then knock the living shit outta our bowl opponent. That's when we give Mac an extension and parade. #HIT7

By my arm chair research, if we win out, Coach MaC is 18-18. A bowl win would have him +1. And by the way, it took Hayden Fry into his fourth year to get to .500.

Beat UTEP. Then beat everybody else.

Coach Mac is the man for sure and I love the defense, I hope we win out.

I am not sold obviously on the offense coaching.

College head coaches should be reviewed at the end of the regular season before any bowl games. It gives a reasonable sample range of their work without a bowl game win or loss to skew the results. The standard contract appears to be a rolling 5 year contract so recruits will at least have the reasonable chance of the coach lasting through their career including a redshirt season.

Anything less and other schools will use it to recruit against us.

Contract talks during the regular season give far, far to much attribution to the most recent game.
