A few months ago when Tony Mitchell declared for the draft, he had more than a few people question his ability to make it in the league or even make the opening day roster.

At first it seemed like the decision to leave UNT after two years might backfire when he fell to the second round of the NBA draft. Well, the Pistons are set to open against the Washington Wizards tonight and guess whos on the roster?

Yep, Tony Mitchell.

Tony Mitchell made his NBA debut tonight. He came off the bench and grabbed a rebound in Detroit’s 113-102 win and thus proved all the doubters who said he would never play in the NBA wrong

Hopefully by mid-season he'll work his way into non garbage time minutes. Gotta earn your time after all.

I could be wrong but at least 15 guys make the NBA's opening day rosters; with about 12-13 active. When the D-League starts up, as many as 2-3 will be sent down (and called up) throughout the season. I've been a Mitchell fan since I first saw him as a 9th grader but he could still spend more time in the D-League than with the Pistons.
