Turnovers... I think we will match up well with them in just about every area. I just worry about turning the ball over. In fact I will predict right here right now if we don't turn the ball over in this game we will win. I just wish I could convince myself we won't. I get the feeling we will be doing Mac smash mouth ball in this game and protecting the ball will be so important.

They will be sitting on DT's throws, count on it. We need to throw deep like we did Saturday to get the safeties ot of the box and to prevent them jumping an out route.

I've been saying this already! #1 issue is turnovers, #2 issue is penalty yards. Handle both of those well and we will win. I think with 1 INT we will still be fine...but multiple INTs and fumbles could kill us, unless we do even more of the same to them.

Agree completely!

Our D has been so incredible and have made up for some turnover issues on offense. I think those get fixed this week. #hit6

I predict that if UNT is turnover free that they will win ALL their remaining games.

What we are really saying is that these are two evenly matched teams, and to win, mistakes will have to be minimal.

You worry too much. You should heed the advice of a certain former Texas governor. ;-)

Winning the turn over battle is always a key in a big game. So I'm gonna stay away from that worrying me. Instead I will go X's and O's. I'm worried about Jordan Taylor (6'5) and Rice simply just throwing the ball up for him and saying go get it. Our DB's have struggled in one on one situations with the jump ball. Rice isn't a great passing team, but they do like to take their shots down the field, especially with Taylor. Taylor is leading Rice in the explosive play category with 7 plays of over 20 yards and 3 TD's.

I predict that if we score more points than the Owls then we will win. I don't care how we do it. I don't care how many turn-overs we have. I don't care what percentage of our plays are runs. Just win baby.

My worry is that Rice will take Brelan out of the game. This is a week where the receivers have to show up and make plays. The guys who have been making plays all year have to step up this week.

Also, Pegram is apparently nicked. Want to see Jimmerson come out against Rice. He and BByrd need to play big.

I think what your gonna see is Rice leaving their CB's out on an island. They have extreme faith in those two guys to win their 1 on 1 match-ups. So its quite possible that Brelan will get some favorable looks down the field. Rice isn't going to be fooled by that passing stats that we put up. They are going to play run first all night. The guy who could really have another big night is Carlos Harris.

There will be turnovers and penalties. We will force some and make some. As long as its not a pick 6 or deep in our own territory, the defense has a shot to hold. An int Downfield on 3rd and 10 is not a backbreaker. getting a safe pass like a screen picked for 6 several times in inexcusable.

Diversify the play choices. Mix run, short pass, medium pass and the occasional 20 yard plus passes on first down. Don't do them all in equal amounts but don't ignore any of them. Keep mixing things up during the first quarter - make Rice have to completely guess what you're going to do. Yes, they will guess correctly sometimes but not always. Keep them off balance, execute well and what mistakes we make are things we will overcome!

I just hope DT doesn't throw interceptions. It seems every time I check the stats of the games I missed, be it in the 1st,2nd or 3rds quarters there is an INT number >0 in his stats.

Ok.

Rice has not seen a defense like ours all year. We will hit them until they quit. Of they can't throw the ball against this defense, they can't win this game, plain and simple.

I don't think they can.

For some strange reason, this game just doesn't concern me.

Never thought I'd be saying this but 90 you don't worry enough. My nipple must have had a calming effect on you.

Just have the same feeling I had about the USM game. We beat the S out of MTSU at home, beat a very good Ball St team at home (a much better team than Rice), and have found confidence and a bit of a swagger.

We are playing for bowl eligibility on national TV against a former member of the SWC. And we are going to take them apart.

Relax and enjoy.

Besides, a Harry nipple always soothes (or severely creeps out) what ails you.

90's uncharacteristically calm attitude has some kind of transference properties. I'm also feelin' good about it.

We have faced better teams than Rice. We have seen and beaten better qbs and offenses than what Rice has.

The only thing that worries me is the coaching. Talent wise, I think we have more and faced more. If it comes down to creativity, adjustments, and coaching, not sure if we are able to respond in enough time to win the game.

I still think we win because of homefield and talent.

I know some are having some hangover thoughts of turnovers from the beginning of the 3rd qtr of So Miss. I am glad that it happened then, in a game like that. You better beleive the coaches have addressed it, and will be top of mind all week for the team.

UNT90 speaks the truth, IF we come out aggressive. Throw the ball on 1st & 2nd down, and stretch the field we will be successful and win. We need to throw the ball early, show DT he is the senior to lead us to the promised land and get his confidence going. Nothing says we trust you DT like throwing the ball deep on the 1st play of the game from our own 2 Yrd line.

Go Mean Green!

I don't know about the whole 2 yard line thing, but...

I dream of us coming out for the first series, 1st and 10 ball on our own 35, and running a play action and throwing the ball deep down the sideline, or middle, or anywhere.

I promise the other team wouldn't be ready because Mac has NEVER done this at UNT.

Just once. I don't care if its intercepted. It's as good as a punt. And it lets the opposing defense know they can't play the run on every first down.

Just once. Please.

I was going to mention that too. And that was a drop that should have been a 55 yard gain. Plus we went back to it two more times before we finally struck gold with it.

For me, I'm not worried about the defense, which is why I predict Rice scores 17 or LESS.

What has me worried is the offense, and hanging over my memory bank mostly with the offense is that first quarter against Tulane.

We haven't seen that offense in 15 quarters now. But this is a huge game and our coaches are probably looking to show Rice a new wrinkle, and Im worried whatever prevailing force that convinced us to come up with that first qtr against Tulane is still around, hanging over us like an evil angel of horrid offense, whispering in our ear...."call me,...use me,.. Rice will never expect it, I promise It'll work this time".

Ugh!!! The thought?

No, I hope we continue the play action pass, stretch the field and then pile drive them into submission with this great O line, then shut them down "Nighty-Nite".......McCarney style.

We're the "Sleep Experts" of college football and Big Mac is gonna dial Rice's perfect "Sleep Number" then have Byrd read them a Mean Green rendition of "Goodnight Moon".

Normally, I would agree with you on this, and I hope it proves true. However, Rice historically plays very very hard, and they will play very hard for Bailiff. UNT will have to really bring it to get them to fold like Ball did.
