Dont count your chickens before they hatch...

etc., etc., etc.,....

But what bowl game do you think we go too? Most posts show us going to Dallas / Heart of Texas Bowl.

I have no idea how the bowls work. None. Zero. Nada. I just want UNT to play in one.

I don't either, thought i read somewhere that their ranking shows when they get to pick which team they want to play from that conference. They may choose based on what schools can bring in the biggest crowd, which i why I think we are projected for Heart of Dallas.

Without help, the Heart of Dallas Bowl is our likely destination.

If we lose to Rice we are out of the CUSA Western Division race but will still get bowl eligible and play in the Heart of Dallas Bowl.

If we beat Rice, then the winner of the Rice-Tulane game will likely represent the Western Division in the CUSA Championship if they each run the table in their remaining CUSA games. If Tulane wins against Rice then North Texas sits alone in second place in CUSA-West and Rice is in third place with two conference losses.

If Rice wins against Tulane, it creates a three way tie for CUSA-West, and Rice goes the the CUSA championship to play the winner of ECU and Marshall. If that happens, Rice, Tulane, North Texas, and the lone one loss CUSA-East rep would all be CUSA Champions.

Conference USA led in the formation of the Heart of Dallas Bowl, manages it from their Irving offices, and has a vested interest in it having the largest attendance possible. Other than the winner of the CUSA Championship game which automatically goes to the Liberty Bowl, Conference USA works with the bowl committees to slot the remaining bowl eligible CUSA teams into their bowls. One school, North Texas is an almost automatic pick for the Heart of Dallas Bowl. The schools departing for the AAC have reduced influence with the CUSA office and will likely get relegated to later selection.

About the only way that North Texas does not go to the Heart of Dallas is if we qualify for the CUSA Championship Game, win that, and go to the Liberty Bowl in Memphis.

And either of those two destinations would be great for North Texas!

This following was posted on the CUSA board. If we win out, Rice only loses to us, and Tulane only loses to Rice ... then we're all 7-1 in conference with losses to each other. It seems we would fall all the way to tie-breaker number 7 - BCS ranking. According to CBS Sports (http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/rankings/bcs), currently Tulane is #46, Rice is #47, and we're #60. If we finish with four more wins and Tulane and Rice both earn another loss then who know how the final BCS standings will look.

Two-team or multiple team tie for divisional champion:

1. Highest regular season winning percentage based on overall Conference USA play.

2. If tied, head to head between tied teams.

3. If still tied, highest winning percentage within division.

4. If still tied, compare records against divisional opponents in descending order of finish.

5. If still tied, compare records with common cross-divisional opponents.

6. If still tied, compare records against cross-divisional opponents in descending order of finish.

7. If still tied, team with highest BCS ranking.

8. If still tied, the representative will be the team that has not participated in the championship game most recently.

9. If at any point the tie is broken in a multiple team tie, the remaining teams will begin the process again at #2.

To decide who hosts the C-USA Championship Game:

1) Highest regular season winning percentage based on overall Conference USA play.

2) If tied, head to head between tied teams.

3) If still tied, team with highest BCS ranking.
