Crazy talk: UTSA over Tulane

You guys beat me to it, I think FAU is as underrated as UTSA. I still think UTSA pulls out at least 1 surprise win, and if FAU doesn't crap the game away there's a good chance they can pull it off. We have to beat Rice and then beat everyone else.

So yeah, my thoughts are pretty much an echo of what you guys said. I always thought this game would be huge in getting bowl eligible, but before the season I figured at this point we'd be 4th in the division behind Rice, La Tech and Tulsa. Now it's an even bigger game because we're third, and could be tied for first if we take it and Tulane loses. This scenario would also give us the longest active winning streak in all of CUSA.

I see it in the scoreboard, but I am still trying to see how Rice "controlled" this game in the stat line.

Dead even on average yards per play (5.4), but UTSA snapped the ball 80 times to Rice's 63. UTSA had more total yards, especially rushing where they had a 5.4 ypc average (Rice 3.8). TOP favored UTSA by 9 minutes. UTSA also had a decided (24-15) advantage in 1st down total.

The only thing I can take from the stat sheet is that a productive UTSA offense gifted Rice with a single fumble? Can you elaborate on what you saw that makes you say Rice controlled this game?

EDIT: I'm trying to find average starting field position

Sorry for late response : UTSA offense had a hard time moving the ball until late, The run game was pretty good but the passing game wasn’t there at all. There were drops, bad routes, bad throws, and bad play calls. It wasn’t until late that some attempts down the field were successful. In that final quarter, Soza threw for 138 of his 170 yards including his longest of the day to Bias for 38 yards.

They went Wild Runner (wiildcat, whatever) and resorted to trickery late in the third, deep in own territory. Crowd wanted Soza benched.
