Game 3 of World Series

Recommended Posts

Game three ends on a buzz are obstruction call against the Red Sox to give the win to the Cards. Sox third baseman interferes with the Cardinal runner on an overthrow to third base. Winning run scores in the bottom of the ninth on an obstruction call!

Have never seen this before and would have never thought a World Series game would end this way.

Was it obstruction? Probably so, but Powhatan a way to lose a game! That umpire sure made a gutsy call. Correct within the rules as the run would have scored without the obstruction, but took guts to make the call...and he called it immediately...no hesitation at all.

Glad the Cards won it, but Wow...just wow!

Cards up 2 games to 1...let the Sox fans now start complaining loud and long...especially if the Sox go on to lose the Series!

I'm pulling for Boston. I didn't think it was obstruction that was purposely done. But then again Salty completely lost that game for them with that idiot throw the 3rd. It wasn't necessary especially with it already being 2 outs.

In baseball..the obstruction rule has ZERO to do with intent. If you are in the gas oaths and obstruct a runner from advancing, it is obstruction. The Sox third baseman did raise his legs...both of them, while on the ground as the Cardinal runner tried to head to home. He definitely impeded the Cardinal runner who would have definitely scored without the obstruction.

The only odd part to me was that the umpire called it and that he did not hesitate...call was immediate by the third base ump.

Tough way to lose a game...the ump has gonads for sure...right call, yes! Tough to make and I doubt that many other umps would have made that call. Seriously doubt that I would have! I want the games to be decided by the players, not official's calls, but they are there to do a very important job...and this guy did! Wow!

The Cardinals player was looking straight at Middlebrooks when he tripped over him. It was almost like he intended to get the obstruction call although I suppose that seems silly. Interesting call to say the least.

Yes, looked right at him as he was obstructing his path to home. Crazy crazy end to a great game?

Good point. Two bad throws to third have really put boston in a pickle. Go Red Sox!

Go Cardinals!

Do think this series just might go 7... Next game is critical for both teams...the Cards get to 3 or the sox tie it at 2 each! Significant difference for the series depending upon how game 4 goes! Game 4 is tomorrow, right?

Yes...Go Cards!

Bummer...but congrats to the Bo Sox on finally winning one at home for the homies! Love my Cards, but they got hammered last night by Lacky who has really pitched well. Waac, who pitched GREAT all season, just was not "on" last night. Sox won in six.

So, now no reason to stay home tonight...get to Apogee and cheer the Mean Green on to victory over Rice!
