I didn't get a chance to post this until today but I happened to be watching FSSW waiting for the Stars pregame show on Thursday night and at the end of the show they had a predictions for the two guests. Rick Gosselin was one of them and he predicted us to go to a bowl. Here is a transcript of what was said. It was out of the blue and when hearing that so my NT homer pants was happy. Just thought I'd let you all know.

Goose: "I predict the North Texas Mean Green will go to a bowl for the first time since 2004. If they can win this week they're 5-3 going against win-less Southern Miss. I was there to see a game the other night. Fun place to go to a game, great stadium, good tailgating scene, fun product on the field. I think they're bowl eligible, I thing they could get to a bowl somewhere".
Rhads: "Hats off to Dan McCarney doing a good job with that program".

Almost makes me wish I gave a hoot about what Goss says. He knows the NFL draft ... he knows the NFL Hall of Fame ... he doesn't know much of anything else and is really exposed being a columnist.

However, I now consider him to be a college football expert! :)

The WBAP morning show was discussing this a well saying on Friday they think we will make it to a bowl an it would be great for the fans if we were in the HOD bowl. One of the guys is TCU's George Dunham.

that would be Hal Jay. he has been a longtime supporter of the frogs.

      Contracts could be for one+ year(s). Employee status would bring tax questions into play. FICA and income taxes would be due .

      Do we still only play 7-8? 😝 This is what I have. This was tough. We’ve had some pretty great players. Lorient is more potential that straight up production.       Big dumb question.

      Why put players under contract when in the current form, you can just dispose of those who aren't performing every season? Scholarships are currently renewed on a yearly basis. Putting players under contract would mean you'd be looking at deals worth 2+ years. What happens when a guy just isn't working out but you're on the hook for another year so the scholarship can't be used for somebody else? I know you could say with "NIL," you could just give enough to cover tuition and some extra but I doubt the boosters would want to pay that much for an unknown player just because a scholarship is used up on another bad player. Reality is, coaches hate when players leave after a great season but those same coaches are quick to push guys into the portal if they're not working out. I'd be all for contracts at our level, though. Contracts mean you can include buyouts so if you really hit on a prospect, I'd love for UNT and our NIL to get some money back for developing a good player.
