North Texas went right back to focusing on the next task at hand on Sunday afternoon following its win over Louisiana Tech. Dan McCarney made certain of that.

UNTs head coach wanted to make sure his team doesnt squander what he believes is a grand opportunity to build on a budding confidence among his players and coaches, not to mention the growing enthusiasm among its fans and supporters.

UNT was sitting at 2-3 just a few weeks ago, but is suddenly riding a wave of momentum after beating Middle Tennessee and Tech in consecutive games.

That two-game winning streak is a modest one, but its also the Mean Greens first since 2004.

The run is one UNT (4-3, 2-1 Conference USA) will look to build on Saturday when it takes on a struggling Southern Miss team that is sitting at 0-6 and has lost 18 straight games.

People are excited because this is the first time we have won two games in a row and the first time that halfway through the season we are over .500, UNT linebacker Zach Orr said. We have a chance to make some good things happen.

      Massie is basically listed at the same build as both AScott and TBell…our starting PFs for the last four seasons. That’s at least part of the reason I see Massie as a fit at our 4…so much of our defense is built around switching, denying entry and team rebounding…so we’ve never needed 6’8” 250 at the 4. I agree Vice is such a big wildcard. If it’s literally just him and Sissoko sharing minutes at the 5 and giving say 12/12 collectively, this squad could be a monster and legit ten-deep. this level of pre-season speculation is pretty darn fun. We are not have like three dudes on the roster we’re pretty well confident in knowing what they’ll give us…Walker, Sissoko and Stone…everyone else is kinda up in the air. personally…I think Wright is knocking on the door of 20ppg…with Floyd, Josell, Massie all around double-figures…balanced by Walker, Newell and some center combo giving 7-8/game.

      What's happened to APR? Is that still a thing? It used to be that if more than a few players left a football program (much more so a basketball program) without graduating in the same year, it would kill a team's APR.

      Have almost given up trying to figure out time lines with college athletes. Tell me how in the world athletes can transfer three or four times and still be on any path to have the proper amount of hours at a school to graduate. It has become a total joke.
